Hello. I've been reading many comments about fruit and weight loss and it looks like the majority feels that fruit is packed with sugar and bad for weight loss. Looking on the net the opinions differ but it's also widely suggested that better limit or stay away from fruit. I'm hoping that there are some good success stories with having fruit as a part of healthy weight loss. I'm not a doctor but I think fruit is a very healthy option and it's packed with vitamins, minerals and healthy sugars which we need for our bodies. I'm trying to loose weight and stay size 10 dress. Currently tight size 14 or 16 depending on the style of the dress. I'm doing light exercises mainly dancing to disco music and similar energetic tracks and do some very moderate, without weights exercises and walking. Trying to have healthy meals and normal dinner with the family with added salad and reduced portions. Anyway, my question is about the fruit and success stories. Please kindly share. Thank you. Happy Sunday to all!!!

friendly Have a look at the Paul Mackenna thread there are a lot of us who have lost weight and are loosing, eating fruit and HEALTHY normal food without a sniff of low cal. or low fat diets (they're all shxx IMO; they just make money for unscrupulous manuf. who want to keep us fat).

Oh and like you we're friendly and supportive!!Smile

When I used to go to SW the leader used to have a saying fruit if it suits - people react differently to it.

Rhubard is fab for weight loss....grapes, well dont eat a whole bunch and you'll be fine.

See, I must have a funny belly because if I ate a whole bunch of grapes (sometimes I can't stop myself Blush) it's the equivalent of a giant enema and I shit out far more than I have taken in with the grapes - is it just me?? Confused Blush

Same with rhubard.....have some of that (I stew it in diet lemonade, its lovely) and you shit through the eye of a needle

Frozen grapes are nice too..bit like sucking on a boiled sweet and if you get a craving for sweets its nice and you wont want that many!

Friendly, weightless is just maths - calories in vs calories out. The whole healthy eating thing is more complex (you could eat 3 snickers bars a day and still be on a low calorie diet), but for weight loss you just need to eat less and move around more - doesn't matter what of.

Thank you for your support! Well, I can say that I've finally started to loose weight. I think healthy diet with fruit and veg and family dinner (whatever we all hove but smaller portion with salad/veg) and moderate work out works for me so I'm going to continue with it. Your advice is fab, I'm going to join your friendly group ppeatfruit. Thank you :)

Hurray! See you there Friendly Grin

hermione if that's the case then why did I loose 1 stone after just stopping drinking only one coffee every day and starting to eat fruit on an empty stomach? NO EXTRA EXERCISE OR ANYTHING. Also I have never counted calories Grin I just eat healthily.

foreverondiet · 02/07/2012 13:00

hermioneweasley its not quite as straightforward as calories in / calories out as the body deals with different calories in different way, eg takes 30 calories of energy to digest 100 calories of protein. Calories are measured in a furnace, the body is not a furnace.

Plus exercise not required for weight loss. Read Gary taubes - very enlightening.

Great ideas here, thank you everyone so much. I'm having Greek salad with added fruit and veg, drinking herbal and fruit teas, water, had some apples and tomatoes. Will dance later :)
How is everyone doing?
Wishing you all great success. This time should be a lucky time for all of us :)

I went from 13 and a half stone to 9 stone last year and ate no fruit. I filled up on colourful veg and protein and snacked on lean protein. I find fruit makes me really hungry.

friendly7 · 03/07/2012 18:09

Well, may be fruit works differently with different people. I find it helps me :)
I now mix fruit with veg in my salads :)
Congratulations on your weight loss Fluffy!!!
