why does my hip hurt when I walk?

Just that really. It feels as though the bones in the joint are rubbing together.

I've had this problem for a long while.

I've had 2 kids and had SPD in both pregnancies which I think has aggravated it but didn't cause it as it was there long before that.

Is there anything I can do to help it. Would love to start walking more, but as it gets so sore, I worry that I'm making it worse.

Many Thanks in advance.

Surely this would be something to get checked out at the docs? Might be the beginning of something more serious hip-related and would be good to find out whether it's preventable.

How long did you have the SPD for after your pregnancies, just out of interest? I've had a funny hip clicking thing for a few years (infrequent and hardly noticeable but annoying when it comes), and had SPD with my second (twin) pregnancy. Had the twins nearly 3 months ago and the SPD is still here. Haven't yet mentioned it to docs as all they ever said when I was preg was 'put up with it', but I wonder if the two problems might combine Hmm

Thanks for your advice Lemele

I went to my GP today and he's sending me for an xray. I've always assumed it's to do with the fact that I'm unfit, but you're right it is good to get it seen to, eps as it's been like it for a long while. He's also going to do a blood test to check for rhumatoid or arthritic antibodies or something. I'm 43 so I hope it's neither of those things really.

I think my SPD symptoms went after about 2 months or so. I remember the hospital physio lady saying that if it was still a problem after the birth that I should go back to them but I never needed to. Maybe you could speak to yours if it's still troublesome.

I think my hip issue is like yours in that I forget about it, but when it starts up it's really annoying. I'd love to do more walking just on a day to day basis but it stops me so it's good to be doing something about it.

Thanks for your help and hope you get some relief from the SPD soon.

Take care and I hope your twins are doing well and they're letting you get some rest. xxx
