Hi, I hope you nice ladies can advise me.
My DD1 is 20 and in her second year at University. Her first year was awful and she became anorexic.. weighed 6 stone (at 5 ft 8) when she came home. We got help and she recovered well, but she started to binge eat and put on weight very rapidly.

This year has been great..she is happy and settled and I am very relieved..BUT she is a LOT heavier.. about 2 stone over her pre anorexia weight and she hates it.. she is doing lots of exercise, loves the gym, but wants to lose about a stone just to feel more herself. She continues to struggle with binge eating (no purging) .

She will be home for the summer next week and she has mentioned maybe joining a weight loss group. She isn't massively overweight.. she is about 10.5 stone (she was naturally about 8.5 before it all went wrong)

Could she join a group ? I have no experience of this, but thought that maybe having group support might help her in her struggle not to binge eat, even to she doesn't need to lose lots of weight. I think she looks fine, but I do understand that she doesn't feel right in her body at the moment.
Thanks:)

I think she needs to speak to a Dr or similar as binging is still disordered eating. As she had anorexia I wouldn't think what is in essence a dieting club with regular weigh ins etc is a good idea.

Btw her weight is great for her height.

I don't think a slimming club is a good idea with her anorexic history. I would have thought something like John Briffa's escape the diet trap diet, which is great for long term health would be good. I also think that the gym is great esp if weight training as will help to build muscle that would have been lost during the anorexia - and this will help with body confidence.
