Help me get rid of my flab 'belt'

What exercises can I do to help me get rid of the loop of jelly that is stubbornly clinging to my middle? I have been watching what I eat and trying to do a really good half hour walk every day and the weight is slowly coming off everywhere except my middle - it is so depressing! Does anyone have any tips?

I am in the same boat. I saw a local place advertising a spa body slim capsule and i posted today asking if anyone had used or heard anything about one. They supposedly work by high pressure fully clothes water jet massage reducing cellulite and inch loss/body circumference. But sounds too gimmicky to be true...(so guessing they probably don't work).

I'm guessing we need to do loads of sit ups - I can't bear it!

Low (or moderate) carb diet. Sit ups will not help.

South beach diet claims that it reduces belly fat.

Is it just normal skin?

I only ask as my belly is quite buggered as I had bad stretch marks, exercise and low carb, particually no wheat and sugar really help, but the skin on mine is so screwed that it is never going to do flat.

Have you ever tried Pilates? I've done it for about four years now and very proud of my flat tummy. I always used to have a flabby, bloated, looking tummy and just accepted the fact that in my 40's I was well past doing anything about it. Now, nearly 50, thanks to Pilates....hello flat tummy! :) I can't do sit ups (due to back problems...which is why I started Pilates in the first place) but there is one exercise that my instructor gave me while the others in the class did sit ups. Supposedly much more difficult than sit ups and works your abs really well, helping to strengthen your core muscles. If you lie flat on your back, pull your stomach in (basically try and suck your belly button as far as you can towards your spine). This will help to support your spine during the exercise. Lift legs straight up in the air, with feet flexed (toes pulled towards your face so that the soles of your feet are pointing up to the ceiling). With your stomach muscles pulled in so that the small of your back is against the floor, lower your legs as far as you can while keeping them straight and your feet flexed. You have to do the exercise slowly (don't drop your legs and use the momentum to bring them back up)...drop them slowly, as far as you can, and then bring them up again (keeping legs straight). Aim to do 8, eventually taking your straight legs a couple of inches off the floor and then back up.

I am going to try a low-carb diet then - I must admit I think i need to cut out wine for a few weeks for anything to really take hold.
