My GP has put me on a special anti candida diet for health reasons. I have decided to embrace the diet and hope it also helps with weight loss. However, I am a little worried about all the cals when I work them out. That said my carbs are very low.
Should I just ignore the cals now?
Also anyone been on the diet and if so what did you eat?
Thanks

Where are all the calories coming from? And how many is it a day?
You're very lucky to have an enlightened GP who has suggested an anti candida diet.

Thanks Malory.
NutsGrin mainly
This morning I had kippers on which had butter on they where 525 kcalsBlush

Then for morning snack I had handful of nuts.
Then lunch I had mackerel salad with some almonds in.

I must admit my tummy has never looked as flat. Envy

I worked out my carbs on app and it gives cals also and it said I am up to 1100 already.

Once you've been on this diet for a while you should find yourself less hungry and not needing snacks. Even so, 1100 isn't a large amount of calories for two meals and a snack and you can eat a lot more calories without gaining when you are eating low carb, high fat than you can on high carb.

alfiemama · 30/05/2012 14:33

Thanks Queenstromba, I have been aiming for 1200 with my fitness. Guess I won't need to count cals anymore.

Just a little update ended on 2200 kcals for me which I always assumes was a lot. However, it's working lost another 2lbs.
It is difficult though and craving everything but when a dr tells you to do it, well it makes you stick to it.

Can't even say it's because of no carbs because I had brown rice yesterday.

Apart from the flat tummy :) how are you feeling in general, starting to notice an improvement?
A family member of mine followed an anti candida diet suggested to her by a homeopath and althuogh she found it tough at first she pretty much lives that way now. Says she feels 10 younger (she definitely looks it!), all IBS symptoms gone and various aches and pains.

yakbutter do you mean she can't eat any fruit, veg or salad? that must be very tough to get all her nutrients. How on earth do you manage, is it just with the vitamins?

As for the anti candida diet I'm sure that alfiemama will tell you more but my family member who followed it did it in stages. For several months she avoided all grains, all sugar (even ketchup), dairy, fruit, alcohol, and mushrooms, yeast, beans.

alfiemama · 31/05/2012 17:20

Wow yakbutter that must be horrendous.
Malory I have a chronic headache and feel even more fatigued but I believe this is normal. Oh and craving dairy like mad. Will be worth it though. I have been referred to a Chronic fatigue team so at least we can say we tried everything. Oh Gp has also
prescribed an antifungal tablet.

alfiemama, how long have you been on it? my cousin said the first two weeks were very difficult then suddenly it was like a cloud lifted and her aches and pains went and she had a lot more energy.

puffylovett · 31/05/2012 23:34

It's really comm

puffylovett · 31/05/2012 23:37

Oops! It's really common to get die off symptoms in the first few weeks of an anti candida regime. It usually means the liver needs a bit of extra support. Milk thistle can help, if you're not on any other drugs than the anti fungal. Although in my experience conventional anti fungals not that good at treating systemic candida long term

puffylovett · 31/05/2012 23:39

You also need to be careful with nuts as they can be coated with yeasts and molds if old which is irritating to candida sufferers.

alfiemama · 31/05/2012 23:55

Only a few days Malory. That's food to hear I'm hoping its the answer me and dr have been looking for.

Thanks puffy, in that book it says some nuts are okay. Oh heck there will be nothing left to eat soon.

Are tomatoes okay? Just it says no fruit except one small green apple or berries small portion. Yet, in the back where the recipes are it says tomatoes in the ingredients?
Do you have a list puffy? So that I can compare them. Would hate to go through all this and be doing it wrong.

This weekend won't be easy stopping at relatives and having a party. I've already pre warned them. Just don't want to be a foodie boreGrin
