Now we have the rower on rent I trying to use it as much as possible. Has a great website and set up plan which works on x2 sessions of 10mins however 10mins is killing me and according to the plan next week I'm suposed to increase my workout to 11 mins x2 but honestly if your so unfit and 2 stone overweight and 10mins is hard in itself.

I'm also trying on concentrate on a low carb diet too.
ANd planning to do the 16 hr fast to increase my calorie burn on the rower.

anyone help me get through this starting stage.

I HATE the rower. Evil tortuous machine from hell.

That said, I did it because my PT told me to and I was paying him good money so why wouldn't I listen to him? He advised interval training for best results...fast as you can for a minute, then moderate pace for a minute, then sprint pace again. It kills and you will hate every minute if it but it makes for a more effective fat/calorie burn. Apparently.

Maybe start with just five minute stints, 2-3 times a day for a few days and then work up gradually to 10 minutes if you're quite unfit. If you find it too difficult from the start, you're more likely to give up more easily. And have music on or a TV screen to watch if there's one handy to detract from the tedium.

Yes RubberBandit it is hard but ideal that it is indoors and its a very effective piece of mahinery to mix with other exercises.

"HIT" training is High Intensity Training and it works, you need to do 2 mins of bursting your guts out as this it great for the heart and calorie burning.

It is hateful but for my committments with home/kids/business I think its great and I really need to build up my stamina.

I have done short stints but time is of the essence and need to push myself. Not helping that my OH can race at an amazing speed and cant understand why I struggle for a massive 10 mins!

Everything is tough for me!!!!

I lost 4 stone in 2 months on the Concept2, and it's still off 5 years on!

The truth is, that if you have the damper setting and stroke rate low enough, it's easier than walking. Start on a low setting and steady stroke rate and build up.

And low carb diets are a waste of time. I have a high carb diet, train hard, and I'm slimmer than ever. No point trying to exercise with no fuel to run on...would you drive a car with no petrol in it?

would you drive a car with no petrol in it? - made me smile - I see your point but the answer "yes I would if there was no other way to empty the reserve tank which needed emptying" couldn't help but pop into my mind.

I have now used the damper - to number 4 so the intensity is easier perhaps thats just right. Its blinking hard work.

Apparently your body can easily survive on its fuel for 3 of days and the fasting is what a lot of trainers do as you burn much more calories. I will try lower carbs as I've seen so many great results - some people are more sensitive to carbs and sugar levels than others and for my excellent livestyle and food cant understand why I'm so big.

My husband is using it for his cycling and has lost about 2 stone in a few months too - mind you he goes for it and have the motivation and strength to push himself.

We'll have to see - have 2 months until a friends wedding so want to lose 2 stone!
