Question for BIWI or other low carb boot campers please?

Hello BIWI

I am really interested in starting this but due to my DD's allergies we don't have certain things in the house like eggs, nuts, legumes incl peanuts.

ALso, I have a bad shellfish allergy and have an aversion to fish due to the smell.

My question is, would this plan work without these things included. I've read the Mark Sisson Primal Blueprint and alot of it seems to make sense to me but the thought of having so much meat makes me feel a bit queasy so wondered how others might manage on this plan.

Also, does this plan require alot of cooking?

I really need to get on top of really bad cravings that seem to be taking over at the moment and it would be good to get some control back over these.

Many Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sil is allergic to eggs and nuts - she gave up wheat only and lost 2 dress sizes. I think low carb is doable but you will need to read around the theory and make up your own rules but I think it's best to do that anyway Wink

Thanks Betty. I've tried to start thus sort of plan before but really struggle with whst i should be eating. Eggs seem to be such a core part if. i thjnk i need a Dummies guide to bootcamp with idras for meal options ideas. i am not a very good cook at all but do need to do something.

Thanks for your reply.

Get an atkins book from the library - read up on it and then making food choices isn't so difficult. Yes eggs are helpful - they make breakfasts easier but you can work around that have meat for breakfast instead, everyone tailors their diet to suit their likes and dislikes, you just need to do the same. Good luck!

Eggs are very handy but you definitely don't have to have nuts and the legumes are actually a no-no anyway.

Am assuming you're all okay with meat, dairy products and veg? You can build a decent low-carb diet with those, you just have to be a bit creative! There's a good Bootcamp recipe thread somewhere, and I'd certainly second the idea of buying a book eg Atkins or maybe something like Idiot Proof Diet by India Knight - that has a great cookbook with it with lots of ideas.

And yes, you will need to cook Wink

Thanks Betty and Teaandthorazine

I'm so sorry for all my terrible typos on my previous post. I just can't seem to type on my new not so smart phone.

The Idiot Proof Diet book sounds perfect. I'll have a look at the recipes thread. I am no good at the being creative bit but knowing that I don't have to worry about eggs and nuts or legumes is great.

Do either of you know if the Primal Blueprint book is similar to this plan? I've read that and find it fascinating.

I really do need to sort myself out so thanks again for taking the time to help me.

Thanks
