I have the CD but havent got a routine sorted yet to listen to it.

I bought it on a whim and am now quote sceptical! Does it work?

I have 4 stone to lose, so tell me it works!

I need to lose 5st.
Slimpod. Expensive failure. I tried it about a year ago. Didn't work for me.
Tried it again earlier this year. Didn't work for me.

I have tried every diet and gimmick known to man, and several types of hynpnosis/mind programming - Paul McKenna, Slimpod and even the Gastric Band one that's on iPad, none of them have worked for me. But have faith, because plenty of other people have had success, at least with Paul McK. Can't comment on the others.
It's weird that it doesn't work for me because I've had hypnotherapy twice before, once to stop smoking and once to deal with a phobia. It worked brilliantly well with both those - went from smoking 20-40 a day for more than 20 years. Its now been nearly 10 years and I haven't smoked since that hypno session. And two sessions got rid of my fear of flying.

I do hope it works for you bogey.

Thanks Malory Thats interesting, I tried Hypno to give up smoking. It didnt work but I later found out that I used a therapist that was widely considered to be crap! I gave up with Champix instead! Good to hear that it worked for flying, as I am terrified of flying and it has meant we cant go on holiday to places everyone else wants to go to, so that might be worth a try.

Will give Slimpod a go, it cant hurt and I have already paid for it. I am currently cutting out alot of carbs, which I do over eat on. Its my main failing and I know that if I cut them down then it will make a big difference.

Have you managed to find anything that is working for you Malory? I have found that "Dieting" doesnt work for me, whereas cutting back on my problem foods but not denying them altogether seems to be better. I tried Slimming World and it was so extreme that I couldnt get together with it. Loads of carbs or loads of protein and bugger all else!

Definitely try it for flying. It's more than 20 years since I had the hypno for it. I was working for an airline at the time so I had to cure my fear. I was getting so bad that even looking up and seeing a plane in the sky could set me off shaking. Anyway, the two sessions definitely cured the phobia. I did used to feel a teeny bit of anxiety before a flight, but I think that's normal, just going to an airport is a stressful experience in itself. I was flying very regularly then. I left that job a few years ago, and now I only fly maybe 3 times a year. And I am a bit more jittery now than I was, but a few deep breaths before take off and I'm fine.

Keep trying with the Slimpod, as you say it can't hurt. I haven't really found anything that works for me. I too find that trying to diet doesn't work for me. I think I'll try the same as you, cut back on the problem foods, carbs here too, but not deny them. I know others have great success with SW but for me it was just an excuse to overeat, never learned any portion control with it. Not sure if it's still the same plan though, I tried it a long time ago. WW just drove me mad counting and I got all rebellious. I'm hopeless!

bogeyface · 21/05/2012 10:35

Thats exactly my problem with SW, there is no need for portion control ("pile you plate with........") so whilst you might lose weight with it, as soon as you are at your target, you pile it back on!

I am now having 1 slice of multigrain toast for breakfast (I dont normally eat breakfast which has been one of my problems), crustless quiche and salad or meat salad for lunch and then normal evening meal but without the potatoes/rice/pasta. It takes some sorting out (spag bol without spag?!) and no wine is a bit of a killer but it seems to be working! I miss crisps as they have always been my downfall, but those bags of Pork Crunch are practically carb free and while slightly disgusting, are better than nothing :o
