Worried the weight is coming off too quickly..........

at the beginning of last year I was 140lbs - and throughout the year (without really trying and thing specific) went down to 128lbs on January the 1st this year.

However, I'm now 116lbs - so I've lost 12lbs since the start of the year. Again I'm not really trying to, eating as normal, pigging on biscuits at work (think work is the reason it's coming off quicker as I'm on my feet for about 9hrs each shift). I know it's only 2lbs a week that's coming off but I'm really worried I'm suddenly going to find myself underweight again (used to be 45kg when I met DH and look like a rake in early photos).

Is there anything I can eat (healthy stuff) that will 'stick' on me a bit rather than just coming straight off as I've known myself to lose weight so quickly!

I would recommend a check up at the gp first, explain your worries and see what they say.You could have a thyroid condition that needs addressing.

Otherwise I'm not good with losing weight myself but I find plenty of pork pies and cake pile it on nicely.Don't mean to sound flippant .Have you googles "foods to gain weight"?

If you don't mind the taste how about trying the slimfast milkshakes, I know they're meant to be a substitute for food whislt on a diet, but I can't see why you can't drink them throughout the day to gain weight, along with eating all your normal foods as well. At over 200 cals per drink, it might work, and its really nutritional too.
I agree with ggirl, might be worth popping down to your gp to check out your thyroid, at one time I had an over active thyroid, and didn't have any of the typical symptoms.

I would if I could afford them - money is still pretty tight atm.

What are the symptoms of an overactive thyroid???

I've only ever seen sypmtoms of an underactive one (with my mum).

Some of the symptoms are

losing weight when not dieting
feeling nervous, irritable or emotional,
shaking
sleeping poorly
being intolerant of heat and sweating more than usual
feeling tired and having weak muscles
increased heart rate or palpitations
more frequent bowel movements or diarrhoea
shortness of breath, especially when exercising
loss of hair or finer hair than usual

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 15/02/2006 18:36

hmm I have got some of those symptoms - but they could just as easily be attributable to my night shift work......

I think you ought to ask the GP to do a thyroid function test - if it's that then it's easily treated.

Well - I've now lost a whole stone since New Years day - however it does seem to be 'slowing' - 4lb since the 15th Feb - so just under 2lb a week, rather than more than.

Mind you - this weight loss did have me jumping round the Matalan changing rooms like a 5yr old - I fitted into a pair of size 8 (stretch) Jeans Shock!

I lost 4.5 stone in 4 months post DD... at 5 months old I'm staying steadyish at 7.5 stone.... I know hpw you feel, I can't seem to put the weight on! I don't get hungry!

Quite sure I don't have a thyroid problem, only have post natal hairloss and I'm my normal self...

Hope you find some answers QOQ, the night shift could be really draining you...

Have to say DH was a really sweetie today - we had a bit of a spat last night (nothing huge - more of a "I didn't like what you just said" (from both of us) so we're not going to talk to each other).

When I went to Morrison's I bought him a few 'treats' (way to a man's heart through his stomach and all that Wink), Cadbury's Cream Egg, Sausage Rolls, Rum and Raisin Chocices and some Cadbury Hot Instant Choclate stuff.

He then had to pop to town and came back with some "mmmm Danone" (actimel) for me "because I'm doing so well).........if only he knew I'm worried about losing too much.!!
