In the last 2months i have put on a stone Sad
i used to exercse a lot but slipped two discs so couldnt train for ages, and now working full time so limited time to go to gym etc.

I can be quite disciplined in the week if im at work or Uni.
But on the weekends, man can i eat!

Saturday i had porridge drenched in syrup
Salad for lunch (one of those deli counter things so not healthy)
Chinese for tea
Followed by rhubarb crumble and custard

Sunday much the same

Monday i had 4 crumpets soaked in butter for breakfast
Macdonalds for lunch
Indian takeaway for tea
Half a pack of biccies

Today much the same and rest of biccies.

How do you stop eating in the evening? I think thats my downfall, that and the amount of takeaway food i eat at weekends, but i cook every other day so like some time off.
Please help before i gain another stone Sad

I have tried hypnotherapy and found it to be very effective. Where do you live? If you're in the North East then I have a name to give you. You can also try taking up a hobby that keeps your hands busy and your mind occupied eg knitting, card making. Have stuff that's ready to snack on, eg carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes so that you can snack if you really want to. Check out Organix products in the bay aisle. Gingerbread men are half a WW point each, crisp type things are three points a bag.

Could you go to the gym at the weekend?

captainmummy · 09/05/2012 13:34

Get salad bags - stop buying takeaways.

Fill up on fruit and veg and salad. Your diet seems very low in fibre and vitamins and v high in fat fat fat!

If you know you don't want to cook at weekends, buy in some M&S ready meals or something - they're not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than takeaway. Honestly, if you do nothing else, stop the takeaway. One takeaway, if you make healthy choices, is likely to be at least 800 calories, probably more, which is half your daily intake. Add the biscuits and you're probably over before you've eaten another bite.

If it's just a question of tracking what you're eating, My Fitness Pal is grey and ha a good iPhone app.

Oh, and do you have time to Shred or run before or after work?

wfrances · 09/05/2012 13:43

stop buying takeaways-if you dont have time its best to buy a ready roasted chicken from tescos and have a jacket spud and salad.

AWomanCalledHorse · 09/05/2012 13:46

Stop having junk food in the house.
What I do is leave out one ingredient per meal when I do a 'big shop' so I have to walk to the local shops to get it....or I can't make dinner.

Watch Supersize v superskinny! The fat one is always hooked on takeaways. I can understand it, they are packeaged to be irresisible - full of fat and sugar. We are programmed to want that!

Babieseverywhere · 09/05/2012 14:20

I highly recommend writing down everything you eat and drink. It really makes you think before eating. I found that I was often eating more than one portion at a time Blush or eating a less healthy option. I also found limiting takeaways and only eating half a portion of my favourite curry with DH means a lovely treat with a reasonable calorie count.

I use this website My Fitness Pal but a pen and paper would work just as well.

I have lost 3.5 stone before I fell pregnant and have been successfully maintaining throughout this pregnancy, i.e. I have yet to put on weight at 27 weeks pregnant ! (Note, this is what my midwife recommends and I am eating normal food in normal quantities not dieting, just maintaining)

Thanks for replies Smile

i have decided to change to another gym where i can use it at anytime, as my current one is off peak but same price. At least then i might get to go a couple of nights a week
Writing food down s a great idea, i have done that before and it really works so will try again.

Its not that i dont have time to cook on a weekend, its that i dont want to! Are the calories and fat content much less in a m&s packaged meal much less than a takeout

I am in same boat, Mosschops, I have been in FT work for a year and just recently things got so busy and stressy that I stopped exercising and have gained 1 stone (must be a magic no.!).
I got up at 5.45am to shred this morning, dragged the kids and DH out on a 7mile (with HUGE hill) walk at weekend...just trying to get my mojo for exercise back. Have you any DVDs that you enjoy doing at home? Can you go for a run at all?
Oh and yes, nice ready meals way better than takeaways in term of fat/cals, the packaging will make you stop and think too, having it all spelt out. I always think of it in terms of "Blimey, that's a bloody spin class!" .

mosschops30 · 10/05/2012 18:41

Hi lizzylou wow you seem to be very good, i couldnt get up at that time to exercise.
I have booked in for a combat class next week Shock, im still not allowed to run outside due to my dodgy discs.
Have made enquiries about cancelling my gym membership and hope to join the other one
