Why is it that at the start you lose more than, say, a month down the line? Can't remember.

Some if fluid initially, eating rubbish makes you retain more fluid than eating well does, IIRC. The closer you get to your target the tougher it gets.

But, MrsSpoon, what if you eat healthily but just cut down and exercise more?

is it partly because if you are exercising more you are developing muscle, and that weighs more than fat?

The truth also is that as you weigh less the number of calories you need to survise also gets less. Eg if you weigh 15st, you probably need 2000 plus calories just to stay that weight so you can lose weight by cutting youur calories intake to 1,800. However you will then reach a weight where 1,800 will maintain your weight and not lose it etc.

The truth is that someone at 10st needs to eat less to maintain their weight than someone who is 15st. So once you lose weight you need to eat less - sad but true.

Also your body adjusts to the reduced calorie intake - it realises it is receiving fewer calories than it is using to function and your metabolic rate drops.
