Heart disease

My cousin who is 40 and two years younger than me has had a heart attack! My mother and her father and two of their siblings have also had heart attacks in their fourties or fifties. I am clinically obese and my waist is 10 inches bigger than what is considered safe. So I think it is safe t say that heart disease runs in the family.

Where do I go from here? I know I have to lose weight, eat healthily and exercise but I feel so overwhelmed by the hard work ahead. Any help or inspiriational stories welcome.

Have you thought about seeing your GP? Asking if they have anything to support you...
Also try Slimming World?
I think you should set small goals like losing a few pounds initially. Also try thinking about all the nice clothes you can buy or fit into. You need support and encouragement.
Good luck x

Small steps at a time.

I recommend south beach diet book (deals with healthy eating plan) - and log everything on myfitnesspal (so you can see quantities). Exercise start slowly, walking, swimming and 30 day shred when you feel up to it.

My friend was due to have gastric bypass but didn't in the end; she's lost 4 stone in 2 months. Eats porridge for breakfast, meat and veg for lunch and fish and salad for dinner, no snacking or eating between meals - and she's coming to the gym with me - thats inspirational!

My cousin died of a heart attack at 41 and its one of the things that terrifies me. I've restarted Slimming World as I had excellent results with it a couple of years ago, its almost zero fat too apart from the healthy extras for calcium.
