Low carb - please help I just don't understand....

I've been lurking on all the low carb threads and really want to have a go. In the past I've done a variation where I've just cut out pasta, rice, cakes, potatoes etc, and my hunger does go, but I don't think I'm doing it properly. My typical day has been yeo valley greek yoghurt with fruit (not bananas) usually figs, blueberries or raspberries, lunch is salad with cheese or chicken and dinner I tended to have whatever I've cooked for everyone minus the carbs, so could be fish/meat and veg or bolognese without the spaghetti.

What I'd like to know is how do I know if the yoghurt is low carb - it's easy to see the calories and thats what I'm used to, but thats useless for a low carb diet (I think). Is there some kind of carb calculator. And if there is an optimum amount of carbs how much is it?

Or is the diet really eat as much of this as you like and absolutely none of this wheres the list?

Are there any good meal plans?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Depends how low carb - greek yoghurt is lowest of the yoghurt - look on the side will say how many grams of carbs per 100g. I think greek yoghurt is 4g.

Figs very high in carbs. Blueberries and raspberries lower.

I try and keep carbs below 100g a day - s0 moderate carbs. Low carbs would be ketosis before 25g?

Thank you forever - thats a huge help, my greek yoghurt is 6.4g, but now I know what to look for I'll see if I can get lower. I can't believe canned tomatoes are so high - I thought they'd be zero, but now I can see that I need to look at portion size and aim for below 100g per day minimum.
Thank you Smile

I log all food on myfitnesspal to keep a running tab of carbs.
