I had one (for mostly medical reasons) but before I lost the weight. Now I'm dieting hard :)

What did you want to know?

I've had one - what would you like to know? The worst thing about it was having the drains removed a few days post-op and don't go it going into hot weather as you must wear elasticated compression garments (must must or you swell up for ages), go somewhere that will lipo your waist at the same time or you will look oblong and most good surgeons want you to have maintained your weight for a fair while.

Hi Ladies , could i ask how you found the clinics was it word of mouth or would your gp have a list ?
Also how long is recovery?
I would like my tummy sorted out after having 3 c sections as i have a horrible flap of skin that diet and exercise alone cannot shift!! Thanks

I went to a specialist. I wouldn't've gone to a transform-style general place - the BAAPS website will have a list though.

Recovery - depends what you mean. 2 weeks of sore, healing scar - like a c-section in some ways but actually easier because it's not so 'deep', although it is longer, and you haven't just had a baby! I had drains in for a week irrc, they were nasty. Once they were out it got easier every day. The compression garments (like super, super strong spanx), weren't massively comfy but they made a HUGE difference - when I had them off I felt like I might 'fall out' and would swell visibly, so I bought 3 pairs and wore them daily for the full 4/5 months recommended.

You might be able to have a 'mini' TT if it's a c-section flap, I needed the full fleur-de-lys and there's an ugly bit of scarring on the t-junction but the rest of it has healed very neatly, fine white line, no 'dog ears' (leftover bits of skin, ergh!), which I have seen on others.

Hi :) Thanks for the replies!
Ah the drains, this is one thing Im scared of! how much pain were you in with this?
Also how long is recovery but just read your posts!
I will be hoping to have mine July, I really dont want to wait any longer. I wish I could have it done now but Im 14 half stone and they wont operate until Im 12 half.
Did any of you worry about complications?

Because I was bigger when I had the op, the results are nowhere near as good as I've seen on others so they're right to get you to lose weight first if it's purely for cosmetic reasons - it's you that will be happier with it in the long run.

I had seroma which is a collection of fluid under the flesh that needs to be drained. Manually. This happens when they take the drains out too early apparently but it doesn't happen to everyone.

The drains are fine. If you're squeamish, they're a bit gruesome but they don't really hurt & the removal is uncomfortable at worst.

I'm 3 months post op and have felt like normal for about a month so my 'recovery' was about 2 months. The worst things about it were not being about to lift the children for 6 weeks and the swelling. It's terrible some days (esp when I've had a drink the night before). Oh I haven't even started about the belly button!!

I had the opposite experience - my body tried to heal so quickly the drains were 'grown in' and had to be yanked out covered in gristle. Agony.

Sorry if you were eating :/

Get some good compression garments - my surgeon sent me a link to a specialist place where you send in your measurements and they make them for you. Made all the difference and prevented issues like seromas.

I put on weight after my TT (a few years after), and it still looks good, not weirdly out of shape or stretched like some can. My belly button looks great. My stretch marks are also now mostly coverable with pants (they were around my belly button!). I am very pleased with my result.
