Lots of you have said you want to do this - now it's time to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.

Oh, alright, it's free. Grin

The plan is that we have two very strict weeks of low carbing. Which is why, doh, it's called a bootcamp.

There are 'rules of engagement' for the fortnight - but they're different if you're carnivore or a vegetarian. I shall post the rules for us carnivores, and flipflopflap will post the rules for those of you that are vegetarians.

Sign in with your starting weight - in pounds, stones and pounds, kilos or - if you don't want to reveal your weight, with 100 as an index - and what you're wanting to achieve in the two weeks. I know that not everyone is doing this for the purpose of weight loss, so you don't have to do this if you don't want to - but tell us what you want this fortnight to help you achieve.

The Carnivore Rules

1.Eat three, proper meals a day.
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food
Focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs. Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. You can have them, but just not every day. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Eat lots of fat.

Eating fat helps you to burn fat. Honestly! Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though, as this is too sweet), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ?
This is where your carbs should come from, and this is non-negotiable. But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list. You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

*5.Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited). It can impede weight loss for some people. If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but don't overdo it. Full fat yoghurt is the best way to include dairy in your diet - but beware, it does contain carbs. Total Full Fat is the best.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol
If you really can't do this - at least try and restrict it to the weekend. Vodka with soda is the best thing to drink. Or Champagne, red wine or dry white wine.

8.No fruit
Really. Seriously. Honestly. None at all. Zilch. Nada.

9.No nuts/seeds
Whilst these are really good to snack on later - it can be too easy to start snacking on these - and before you know it, all your carbs have gone on nuts. Seriously - in bootcamp - don't do it to yourself.

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

Chicken again tonight. Bargain Tesco. Two thighs and two drumsticks for 1.49. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Weeing for Britain. Again. Had done two ltrs by two pm plus three big teas. Not all that hungry tonight, which is good. Hope it shows on the scales soon.

MrsNouveauRichards · 18/04/2012 18:14

I have a friend who is practically a veggie, but eats bacon. If we go out for breakfast she has a veggie breakfast but with bacon added :o

Dinner was bolognese with some courgette fried in garlic butter. Very yum. Felt a bit hungry after that and had some yoghurt and now feel really full. Need to drink more water.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 18/04/2012 18:18

Livelong! Grin

ledkr - you can introduce berries after the bootcamp; when you start to introduce other, more carby stuff really depends on you - how much weight you've lost/have still to lose.

I also went looking for the noodles in our Waitrose, but they don't stock them. I will have to make a trip to the Korean supermarket, or buy some more online.

LackaDAILYcarb · 18/04/2012 18:24

What is a MIM? you keep asking if it's OK to have ShapeJaper, but no-one is answering. It is obviously VERY bad indeed Grin

I think I may have made a big mistake. I made a keema curry tonight, and used half a tin of tomaotes and 50g of creamed coconut. I just assumed that after all the talk of coconut oil, the creamed stuff would be OK, but I now read that it has 22g of carbs per 100g. I also made cauli & spinach cirry with the rest of the tomatoes I've worked out that at best my dinner tonight was 7g of carbs, but at worst it was more like 12g. Is that too much for one meal?

But, breakfast was zero apart from a dollop of mayo, and lunch was about 3.0 for courgette frittata (made with butter and double cream and parmesan.....yummmmmy :o)

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 18/04/2012 18:26

That sounds alright, LackaDaisy - still under the 20g that would be advised in Atkins induction - and we're not counting carbs really, are we?! Wink

A MiM is a 'muffin in a minute' - I will find the recipe - hang on ...

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 18/04/2012 18:28

Muffin in a Minute (posted by QueenStromba)

30g ground flaxseed (linseed)
1/2tsp baking powder (or 1/4 tsp each of bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar)
1-2 tsp sugar equivalent of sweetener
flavouring of your choice e.g. cinnamon, ginger, cocoa etc
5g butter
1 egg

  1. Melt the butter in the microwave for 30 seconds
  2. Mix all of the dry ingredients well in a cup
  3. Beat the egg into the butter and then mix with the dry ingredients
  4. Microwave on full for 60 seconds
  5. Cut in half and slather with butter/philadelphia/clotted cream etc
JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 18/04/2012 18:32

I made a mexican stirfry, instead of noodles I used green breans, blanched them then stirred them in. It was super scrummy.

Had a fried egg for breakfast (had to be super quick this morning)
Had lunch out - tuna mayo salad, it was lovely and filled me up until about 4 ish then I had a babybel as I was hungry and a cuppa.

Must be in ketosis as I am very thirsty and I find that the more I drink the more I want to drink. (water that is) Grin

Shape yoghurt is a NO for whoever asked, after bootcamp you can have greek yoghurt if you want.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 18/04/2012 18:33

BIWI do you think I could increase the amounts of the MIM and make a sort of cake and slice it for breakfast? I have larger than cereal bowls that are plastic and may be ideal for this... might go and have a try later.

SwimmingWithBowLeggedWomen · 18/04/2012 18:38

For those seeking light at the end of the tunnel, DP is now having some fruit, wholegrains and even the odd slice of bread and is still losing 2lb a week, regular as clockwork. It's all about moderation I guess, he has wholegrain rice or pasta just a couple of times a week, the rest of his dinners are still mainly protein / fat based, and he avoids anything with sugar and white flour.

Oh, and the Oopsie rolls were a BIG hit with him, in fact he was a little bit annoyed that I hadn't found the recipe before!

LackaDAILYcarb · 18/04/2012 18:40

Yikes I just caught up and read that I should be drinking THREE litres of water a day I have managed two so far, but does the water need to be actual water, or is it just liquids ie can herbal tea and my morning cuppa be counted in there. Otherwise I'm moving into the toilet for the duration :o

Have stalled on my presentation....hence bumming round on here. Please tell me to bugger off!

flipflopflap · 18/04/2012 18:40

Bit headachey this evening, and bloody knackered! It's a good sign though surely? I'm a bit worried about an Italian meal I'm going for on Friday, I was thinking of having the stuffed mushrooms starter as a main course, there will be breadcrumbs in the stuffing but it's better than all the pasta and pizza.

Todays menu has been

B: Scrambled egg in butter, de-caff coffee with soya milk
S: Babybel
L: Cauliflower cheese soup
D: Chilli with sour cream, cheese and jalapenos.
S: Either cheese crisps or Almonds if I feel like snacking later, with a big glass of fizzy water.

mummyduff · 18/04/2012 18:44

steak fried in butter with green beans with butter on also - yummy scrummy Smile
Not needing any snacks as yet, but still so thirsty, 3 litres down and still wanting more - found this link which is quite helpful re LC diet - www.livestrong.com/article/262206-short-term-effects-of-a-high-protein-diet/

TheShapeJaper · 18/04/2012 18:45

Yay! So does that mean I'm allowed one BIWI?

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 18/04/2012 18:49

BIWI ready when you are for a weigh in - shall we do a weigh in either tomorrow or Friday, and then another one Monday? Whatever everonone thinks.

Ledkr for those shitty-kaki noodles (or whatever they are called) there is an oriental/asian grocer at the lower end of the high street, just past the roundabout bit by the bowling green. Opposite that studenty pub which name escapes me. They will sell them in there (and a load of other spices dirt cheap). Plus coconut oil for about 1/100th of the price of Waitrose.

Twit · 18/04/2012 18:54

I had my fry up with a mushroom and about 1/3 of a beef tomato and feel better. I think I might try it in the morning. I might have to try that muffin recipe, what sweetener is recommended? Also what else could I use instead of celeriac on top of BIWI's cottage pie, as my teeny tesco doesn't have it.
Oh bugger, DH is trying to be lovely and has bought me a pack of my favourite gluten free caramel shortbreads. I love them. Blush
Waaaaaah. I'll go and read the carb count just in case
Wink

TheGoddessBlossom · 18/04/2012 19:02

I have broccolli or green beans with chilli. For whoever asked.

Am currently making the low carb shepherds pie....never had celeriac before....

moonmother · 18/04/2012 19:03

Can I ask is anyone getting a bloated stomach in the afternoon?

My stomachs got so bloated the past 3 afternoons about half 4 that I've had to take my bottoms off and put my longing bottoms on that are super baggy. It gets so bloated that I look 6 months pregnant Blush

I am intolerant to cabbage and leafy greens so have avoided them, I thought it could have been the butternut squash affecting me, but I haven't had any of that today, and yet I'm looking all swelly again , it's also very uncomfortable.

I'm not having any problems other than that with the low carbing and I'm drinking plenty of water.

Anyone got any ideas?

ShirtyKnot · 18/04/2012 19:05

I had a delicious dinner tonight of pan fried duck breast, celeriac mash and courgette and spinach in garlic butter.

Debating whether to go to the gym tonight, got to pick DS1 up from fecking band practice at ten. Gah. tell me to go to the gym

Those 3 for a tenner deals at sainsers are immense. Today I got a gammon joint, 4 x chicken breasts and 2 x salmon fillets.

TheGoddessBlossom · 18/04/2012 19:07

Shirty go to gym.

Hmm, moonmother not sure - haven't heard of bloating up before, more of people feeling less bloated!!

moonmother · 18/04/2012 19:10

exactly Goddess I've lost 2lbs since Monday and was hoping to start noticing my clothes getting looser , not having to strip off into my lounging trousers before 5pm lol

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/04/2012 19:11

Get your arse to the gym Shirl...

MrsNouveauRichards · 18/04/2012 19:12

Shirty go to the gym :o

I feel really wobbly again and have just nearly fallen over! WTAF is going on?

ShirtyKnot · 18/04/2012 19:12

I HATE YOU! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME DO IT! YOU'RE NOT MY REAL MUM!

God. I've got to go now I've bloody said it on here.

GreenEyesAndHam · 18/04/2012 19:14

moonmother I'm sorry it's the total opposite for me. I may have only lost a 1lb, but I'm gobsmacked at how flat my stomach has stayed (usually inflates throughout the course of the day)

PorkyandBess · 18/04/2012 19:18

I have just eaten TWO pistachio nuts. Is that bad?

I have had a good day - scrambled eggs and then broccoli & cheese soup for lunch. Made by dh - it was gorgeous!

Having oven baked chicken & veg for dinner.

I went to the gym and worked very hard and felt surprisingly good.
