Hi all - I'm looking for some fellow mumsnetters to do this with me. I'm doing it for the first time and have just started. I'm really up for it and have done so much research on it, to me it's a no brainer but would love to do it with some of you ....... or hear from anyone else who's done it :-)

Not heard of that one, what does it involve?

Dolcegusto · 12/04/2012 10:24

I'd be up for it but what do you gave to do?

Cinderella26 · 12/04/2012 10:34

You basically subsitute food for vegetable and fruit juices for 7 days and the results are (by way of the amount of research I've done) fantastic. It's a great way to kick start a diet. I've just completed day 1 and have tried every diet going but this honestly leaves me feeling full and I know that what I'm eating/drinking is doing a lot of good to my insides too!.

I've read some old threads on here about it and if you google Jason Vale he's got a whole website about it.

Oh, don't fancy that, sorry, be interesting to see how you get on, though :) good luck

Ok Thrifty - will let you know how it goes but an update so far ........

D-Day minus 1: Felt very self rightous as I queued up at the supermarket to buy my 'food' for the week. A conveyor belt full of fruit and veg as opposed to the usual oven chips, pasta, cheese etc ..... Got home and decided to make up tomorrow's juices in advance as I was going into work early. Put them in the freezer and just took them out in the morning and they defrosted throughout the day which was great an meant I only had to do the evening ones when I got in. It was a bit messy but then that's probably me getting the hang of it and I've set up an area of the kitchen now.

Day 1

Started my day with my hot water & lemon which I love anyway and as I was in work early I had 3 juices (8am, 11am & 2pm). I honestly never felt hungry. First test - I had the girls coming round that evening and one of them brought freshly made scones with cream & jam which (small drum roll please) I managed to resist. I think by telling everyone I was doing it made it easier. Bit of a headache in the evening

Day 2

Today is day 2 - I don't feel any different at the moment but I've got no desire to stray from the diet ......

I should mention that they advise to read the book that goes with the diet before starting which although slightly cheesy is very inspirational and they key message is that I've chosen to do this rather than having to do it (pls remind me later in the week).

Looks interesting, we're away for the weekend so will give it a go when we get back.

Do you cook the veg first or just blend it uncooked? Does that not break your blender?

(sorry if this is a really stupid question but I am pretty clueless in tge kitchen Blush )

Cinderella26 · 13/04/2012 15:05

I was always told (and I tell my kids) there's no such thing as a stupid question - You need a juice extractor rather than a blender. A blender mixes it all up pulp and all whereas a juice extractor does exactly what it says on the tin!

The veg is all uncooked

I'm on day 3 now and not felt tempted to stray at all today. I do crave something hot but the last juice of yesterday was a hot one so that's nice to look forward to. I also crave healthy food - salad etc rather than unhealthy snacks which is a bit of a revelation for me!

I've had a really stressy time of late and decided to do this to make me feel better and I'm pleased to say it is - I cheated and jumped on the scales today and am 3lb down already on day 3 -yipeee

Hi has anyone tried these Sage juicers? `are they worth the money?

HeySoulSister · 05/08/2013 09:29

i'm looking for a juicer too....want to try this

itsblackoveryonderhill · 10/08/2013 21:40

I got my juicer from argos it's their cookworks one for 29.99. it's dead easy to use and clean. it is smaller than I expected and no longer than a 4 slice toaster.

I'm not doing jason vale, but joe cross' 3 day reboot, be prepared for a massive outlay on the fruit and veg. I will probably incorporate a juice a day after the 3 days, but realistically I wouldn't be able to justify or afford to do a full on 7, 10, 15 or 30 day fast. it would criple my bank balance.

PinkCustard · 12/08/2013 15:34

Hi, how's it going Cinderella?

I've just read Jason Vale's Juice Yourself Slim, although I prefer to think of it as 'Juice Yourself Healthy' as that's my main incentive. I'm not doing the 7-day 'launch' of just juices, but am following his 'Slim For Life' plan, which is a smoothie/juice for breakfast, salad or soup for lunch, then a healthy meal in the evening. I've actually been having a salad at lunch then soup in the evening, but I intend to vary that by introducing other healthy meals.

This is a BIG change from my usual eating habits - I've stopped my daily glass of Pepsi Max, and cut out alcohol and processed foods. So far I'm loving it, and am feeling healthier. I started it as I wasn't meeting my 5-a-day target, but am now a total convert. If anyone's considering it, give it a go!

I got the Philip's juicer from his website (as it was cheaper there than Amazon) and have found it to be good.
