Curves, fitness club just for women

Just wondering if any MNers out there have ever been to or heard about this fitness club. I saw an ad in the local paper last week and have booked appointment for Friday but wanted to know beforehand what to expect. Also i have no idea how much membership is. I can get it half price but if anyone knows please tell me beforehand so i dont have a heart attack when i find out on Friday.

Apparantely it was started in America by a med school graduate and now there is over 8,000 of them in north usa and over 1,000 outside of US including 150 over here. All the equipment is aimed at women, no men are allowed in there (so no embarassment) and they do monthly assements to see how you are doing. All they reckon you need is 30mins sessions 3 times a week so its ideal for me and it sounds a fun way to lose weight and tone up.

So any comments are welcome. I dont want to waste my time or money if it is going to be a let down.

I don't know much about it ... except that the owner is active in anti-abortion stuff. cite . Article has a bit of information about how the gyms work, too.

Thanks for that link.

From what i can make out it is him who supports the anti-abortion stuff and it has nothing to do with the individual franchises so thats not so bad.
Not sure if I like the thought of working out in a circle though, face to face with everyone, might be a bit embarassing. Guess I will go along Friday, see what i think.

There are a lot of curve classes popping up over here in N.Ireland.I was going to join last year and went for my induction but did not go ahead with it. It is good that you are in and out within 30 mins. They have classes as well introducing diets as well. extra money. My Dh is very wharry of the whole thing and he thinks for the money you could go to a good gym. I have know quite a few and they have got bored with it very quick.Give it a go. when I get my DS into nursery in sept I am going to join. Evenings are no good to me as I work nights and my Dh goes to the gym.
