I did really well a couple of years ago and due to various things going on, and not dealing with stress very well, am back to where I was plus extra.
I am 5'9 and weigh 17.8 This is the heaviest I have ever been. My blood pressure is up, my cholesterol is up, and I feel awful generally. I will need an op later this year, so have got to get fitter.

I have had a few false starts. There isn't a club near me on an evening that suits, so I have been going it alone. And failing.
I know I can do this, but I need support.

I am determined to do it now. Care to join me?

Ach, I'm fine.
Feel slightly told off/picked on though. Seriously, why would someone bother to just come and give a rude opinion to people (or just me?) who are clearly struggling and then breeze off?
There isn't one fat person anyywhere that doesn't know about healthy eating. We just (clearly) don't do it.

I am trying though.
For what its worth, I counted everything on myfitnesspal, as well, and am still inside their recommednded daily allowance of 1450.

No, you're right, I should stay away from 'diet' threads, I just can't seem to keep my nose out of them!

Realise I am being spectacularly unhelpful ,so hope you can get your heads around the eating stuff and stay on track

Furball · 10/04/2012 20:56

SW rules sound odd to those who don't know. 'How can you eat all that?' Well you can.

it is an extremely healthy diet, loads of fresh fruit and veg, low fat with a load of fibre thrown in for good measure. all washed down with 10-15 syns for luck to keep you on the straight and narrow.

as I said melty head down (forget anyone else) this is you and you are in control. focus on the next .0 or 0.7 number on the scales, and slowly but surely you will get there. small steps, small steps Smile

Went to weigh in last night and have lost 3lbs! Grin

Had a bit if a pig out last night tho! Straight from class to the Indian Hmm and then I ate my Easter chocolate and hopefully got that out of my system! Its gone now so I cannot be tempted.

100% back on plan today! Waiting desperately for DH to come home so I can go to the supermarket. Want to wander at will and be inspired!! Do not want to take the DC with me! They are old enough to be left but prefer not to. Cannot bear the thought of taking a sulky teenager with me either.

Am intending to browse through some mags to try and find some inspiration for something nice but suspect I wont be bothered and we will have the same stuff as usual! LOL

Melty · 11/04/2012 14:00

Queen,
thats fab, well done!

My friend introduced me to Bill Granger.
A lot of his recipes are online, and easily adaptable. Very simple, and always tasty even without his tablespoons of oil!

This is Gordon Ramsey one I do and it is yum and easy!

Pasta with pancetta, leek and mushrooms

300g Pasta. (Recipe calls for shells but any will do- I like fusili)
3-4 tbsp Olive oil (I just used a couple of sprays)
2 medium leeks finely sliced.
125g pancetta or lean bacon sliced. (I have also used ham)
250g chesnut mushrooms sliced.
2-3 tbsp creme fraiche (I used fat free fromage frais or Quark. Quark is nicer)
Salt and Pepper.
Bunch Flat Leaf Parsley chopped.
Parmesan shavings to serve.

1 Put pasta on and cook until al dente.
2 Meawhile fry off pancetta/bacon/ham until golden.
3 Add mushrooms and leeks, and stir over a high heat for 6-8 minutes until leeks are tender.
4 Drain Pasta and immediately toss with pancetta leeks and mushrooms. Stir in Fromage Frais.
5 Season with salt and pepper to taste
6 Scatter over chopped parsley to serve.

Grate a little parmesan over the top.

Almost syn free on EE. (Parmesan should synned but I didnt use much so I estimated 1/2 syn for me)
Huge pile of veggies in the dish, and it took me about a half hour including chopping.
Had it for dinner last night and brought it into work for lunch.

Sounds fab! May give that a go! I think with me tbh every time I fall off the SW wagon, its more to do with being bored with cooking than the actual food.
I just seem to have lost my cooking mojo atm.

I used to cook loads of recipies and these days find myself living off SW chips and roast dinners! LOL

As soon as the kids are back at school and I have more time on my hands I will definately start cooking more!

Melty · 11/04/2012 21:38

I think if its time, you definitely need quick and easy stuff. But I think I would be v bored with sw chips and beans!

Last night? Flexible syns. Just eat properly the rest of the week and you should be fine.

Can you get your DH to cook? easy stir fry? Give you a bit of a break.. Or will that mean jacket potatoes and fried eggs?

OP posts:
Furball · 11/04/2012 22:27

Quick easy meal is

Bag of salad, cucumber, tomato spring onions and 1oz of grated cheese (HE)

jacket pot, ready made chilled chicken tikka pieces from supermarket.

dollop of mango chutney - 2 syns?

yum, tis really nice and very easy

DoesItComeInBlack · 12/04/2012 11:36

I've been doing SW for a while now and absolutely love it, I've lost 2 1/2 stone so far and love the fact that it's proper big family dinners and no faffing around cooking separate food for the family. My friend who also goes has lost 6 1/2 stone in 14 months doing SW all on the extra easy plan.
Also because you can have treats i don't get that, I've blown it mentality where I just carry on eating shite.

Melty · 12/04/2012 20:26

Hmm.
Have had a big stuff myself day.
All green though.
Feeling vaguely naughty.
Possibly did not need to eat the last few SW chips. But to be honest, its a long time since I have felt the urge to stop eating. So a good thing. Maybe.

Breakfast: Porridge, 2 poached eggs.

Mid morning, 2 tangerines.

Lunch Wholewheat pasta with (fry light) fried peppers, tomatoes, onion, garlic and chili, with a splash of balsamic. Followed by a cherry muller light. ( 2 syns for garlic and chili puree)

Afternoon snack. Apple

Was ravenous when I got home. First time this week. Wonder if it was because I had more protein content the last few days, and just eggs this am. Also left water bottle at home, so probably didnt drink as much.

Dinner: 2 quorn burgers -sweet red onion ones, Slice of dairylea cheese, 1 wholemeal roll, more of those veggies from lunch. SW chips. (made from 3 smallish potaoes) Tblsp light mayo. 2.5 syns.

Snack after: mini bag buttons. 4 syns,

Have counted everything on myfitness pal too, and am 53 cals over my allocation.

Doesit , 2 and a half stone is a massive loss. Well done!
How long did it take you to get there?

Hey Melty Smile, I'm back with my tail between my legs after that really good period of dieting we had 2 years ago. DP and I are starting today, got some nice lean beef to roast and having it with spray oil spuds, a bit of mash, broccoli, cauli and green beans. Synning some horseradish to go in the mash and a bit of gravy. I aim to do bubble and squeak with leftover veg and the rest of the beef tomorrow. We had grilled bacon, poached eggs and loads of mushrooms earlier.

I've been looking forward to starting again as the carbs I've been eating have made me really sluggish. I adapted loads of recipes last time including lasagne made with 0% fat fromage frais, chicken maryland from Jamie Oliver, prawn risotto so I'm good to go on the meal planning front.

Melty · 23/04/2012 07:38

Hello!
That sounds good.
Have had a reasonable week. Am now minus 5lbs, so thats a start. Smile
But thats over 2 weeks. Could have been better, but have had 4 dinners out this week.
Am off to Melbourne for 3 weeks from Friday, so that should be interesting. But the friends I will be staying with are pretty helathy eaters.

OP posts:
whatkungfuthat · 23/04/2012 08:25

5lbs is great, especially if you've been eating out a lot. We had a 'farewell' curry on Saturday night before we started Grin

Melbourne sounds great, they live a healthy outdoorsy lifestyle out there don't they? So you should be fine with loads of fresh fruit and meat from the barbie. Have a great time.

Melty · 25/04/2012 21:54

So ok yesterday and today, slightly over on syns, but still not too bad. Am trying to clear out fridge so am eating funny combinations of veggies/fruit and ham/bacon. Yogurts and cheese. etc.

Out for lunch tomorrow, (we have a pizza express next to work) and last day at work for 3 weeks. Yay!
Then normal eating on Fri, followed by a long flight with plane food. ick. I think I can bring fresh fruit etc on the plane, so long as I dump it when I land/or have consumed it by then. I believe there is a bin before we go through customs and quarrantine.
I won't have the stresses I normally have, so am less likely to choose badly while away. And although it won't be hot, it will be nice enough for me not to want stodge.
I intend to come back thinner!

I tried on a maxi dress in Monsoon today. It was awful. It was a v neck sleevless jersey style, but the waist sat just under my enormous boobs and hung really badly. I am not sure if it was me or the dress! Probably mostly me.
I cant wear normal dresses at the moment, as I cant wear any shoes with a heel, (having surgery later in the year) and flatties look daft with knee length dresses.
Do you have to be really skinny to wear maxi dresses?

OP posts:
whatkungfuthat · 25/04/2012 22:19

I think maxi dresses are unkind on anyone over a size 8 and under 6 foot to be honest. I'm sure you'll be fine in Australia, I always find I lose weight on holiday as you are walking about more in the heat (that's my theory!)
