I'm not really a breakfast eater and struggle to eat when I first get up. I can eat something more at about half nine to ten but then I find its too close to lunch then I don't really fancy lunch and end up eating that about 2-3 or end up snacking all day. I have read you should eat soon after waking to get your metabolism going and I find I can eat nuts and an apple quite easily and with 2 little ones to look after its easy too!

If you aren't hungry then don't eat just because the clock tells you to - you really need to listen to your body about that sort of thing. The whole eating breakfast being good for your metabolism thing is a myth anyway. Is there any reason why eating lunch at 2-3 is actually a problem?

I think if you aren't hungry in the morning its probably because you ate too much the night before.

I have read in lots of sources good to eat when you wake up but not sure if its been proven.

Apple and nuts is ok, better than breakfast cereal. Are you suppressing your appetite with coffee?

I do tend to eat later on, generally about 8ish. I guess there isnt really a problem eating lunch at 2-3, it would just mean on the odd occasion I make dinner for us all at 5 with the little ones then there's no way I could eat then. To be fair though I am starting to cook separately for them anyway. No I dont drink coffee but I do drink 2 cups of tea in the morning.
I was going to look on here to find out about eating only when hungry, sometimes I def eat just because its that time of day.......doesnt your body start to store fat though if you dont eat regularly?

When your body wants food it will tell you - it's eating food that your body doesn't want that makes you store fat.

Intermittent Fasting. Apparently skipping breakfast occassionally can aid weightloss by training the body to survive on low insulin levels.

Forever If I have a big meal in the evening I wake up raveous - if I go to bed hungry I never wake up hungry. Everyone's different.

I have come to the conclusion that dieting is a very personal thing and most people feel their way is the "right" way and it often is for them - there's no plan or idea out there that will suit everyone, get to know your habits and your body and what works for it - try not having breakfast, if that doesn't work try having breakfast with 30mins of waking and see if that speeds up your weight loss. There are so many contradictory views, many are based on opinion, some are based on good observation but with very little knowledge on why something works.

I know most diets don't recommend alcohol because it weakens resolve and prevents weightloss but it doesn't with me - it stops me snacking and thinking about food in the evening and I average a loss of 1kg a week.

From a nutritional perspective nuts and fruit are absolutely fine for breakfast.
