I'm not actually fat but it is an easy thing to get obsessed with isn't it? Particularly when have been fat in the past thanks to some lovely prescribed medicines, some of which I will probably continue to take until various things like thyroid or kidneys pack up.

Anyway, was using orlistat (xenical, alli) for ages but is harder to get online now also is probably not good idea to take it long term when only obese in your mind etc - so is there a benign alternative I can take as placebo, or some other way to stop thinking about it and going on about it and driving everyone mad?

Vitamin pills??!?! Omega 3 pills? Lipobind?

Another idea is Psyllium husk. Dissolve into water. Fills you up. Loads of soluble fibre.

Maybe you need counselling? Discuss with gp?

MightyNice · 26/03/2012 14:31

thanks - vitamin pills sound sensible, my tummy is not a fan of fibre even though various GPs were all 'oh you must eat lots of fibre for your IBS' don't seem to have it if I steer clear

feel bit better after airing most of my neuroses to personal trainer, will just work on varying my workouts a bit and being pleased with my physique which she seems to think is ok

What do you weigh, out of interest?

MightyNice · 27/03/2012 21:17

argh a bit more after this pizza than before

I'm more or less in the healthy BMI thing, haven't got an eating disorder just a mild thinking-about-being-fat disorder

For goodness sake woman! DO NOT take anything - and why are you buying Xenical online?

You must stop this! Control your weight with a healthy diet and see your GP re some possible counselling if you're stressing. You could make yourself very unwell taking medication that you just do not need... do you really want to be a more or less ideal weight while fucking your body up at the same time?

Here endeth the lecture.

foreverondiet · 27/03/2012 23:43

More or less in the healthy BMI thing??????

Do you mean just over 25 or just under 18.5?

If its the former then by all means lose a few more pounds to get into the healthy range. But not with alli - with healthy eating.

If its the latter (ie under 18.5) you need to see a doctor to discuss asap.

MightyNice · 28/03/2012 09:44

no no, ran out ages ago (weeks) so am not taking it now anyway (it's hardly dangerous, as diet pills go but I am Hmm at idea that pills might be risky and counselling isn't!) but you are both right of course - needed a lecture really

just have mini panic every now and then at thought of weight all creeping back, but it probably won't - am a good weight, don't need to gain or lose, think maintenance is hard work mentally though

OP posts:

Maintenance is hard. I weigh myself every day still, and take action is weight creeps up. I love tom venuto's book,

tom venuto

for great advice on how to maintain perfect body.

And yes diet pills not supposed to be taken long term and are not risk free.

MightyNice · 30/03/2012 13:01

counselling isn't risk free either but weirdly have noticed several people commenting that I 'look well' recently, so am either gaining weight (not according to scales or fit of clothes) or am absorbing more looks-improving stuff from my diet than before I ran out of orlistat!

thank you for book recommendation, have ordered a copy

foreverondiet · 30/03/2012 16:35

Why is counselling not risk free? Aside from cost?

Looking well isn't necessary all about weight though.

I do know what you mean though about being terrified of gaining weight, I am also ... but a year later (almost) I am getting more relaxed and no longer need to weigh and log everything I eat Blush.

What is your BMI and body fat % out of interest?

MightyNice · 30/03/2012 17:35

I've pm'd you, I wish I could find out my body fat % for sure because I think the thing at the gym measures it quite low - mine was nearly 18 last time

started a thread recently asking why people imagine counselling is a risk free treatment, it can and does for many make things much worse - like any other intervention I suppose, there is always a chance of some adverse event isn't there

I have tanita scales - varies between 18% - 20% depending on time of day. Also have it done with callipers in gym. If anything the tanita scales over estimates compared to callipers - around 16%.
