Can you do a low-carb diet without eating loads of fatty food?

All the low-carb diets I've read about seem to advocate eating cream/fat on meat etc, which I'm not keen on.

Does anyone know of a good plan which is low in starchy carbs (pasta/potatoes etc) but high in fruit, veg, pulses etc? I know these are carbs, and I also know that I could just cut out potatoes and pasta, but I like a set of rules to follow! Thanks in advance.

I followed this and lost around three stone.
You need to eat something every three to four hours and eat breakfast within 30 mins of getting up in the mornings, this will kick start your metabolism. Also bear in mind there are a lot of "hidden" carbs eg melon.
Good luck

Monday - Low Carb day (no bread, cereal, potatoes, pasta) calorie allowance 1400 for the day.

Tuesday - Med Carb day (carbs for breakfast and lunch) but no carbs for dinner) calorie allowance 1600 for the day.

Wednesday - High Carb day (exercise day 20-30mins power walk) you can have carbs at every meal time calorie allowance
1600 for the day

Thursday - Low Carb day (so no bread, cereal, potatoes, pasta) calorie allowance 1400 for the day.

Friday - Med Carb day (carbs for breakfast and lunch) but no carbs for dinner) calorie allowance 1600 for the day.

Saturday - Low Carb day (no bread, cereal, potatoes, pasta) calorie allowance 1400 for the day.

Sunday - High Carb day (exercise day 20-30min power walk) you can have carbs at every meal time calorie allowance
1800

You might lose more weight the first 2 - 3 weeks then it will slow down but thats normal.

Weigh yourself once a week a Sunday first thing in the morning.

I also downloaded an app called my calorie counter which was an easy way to keep track

Yes! Lots of ways to do this - this is how I eat.

I started by reading "south beach diet" - basically healthy carbs and healthy fats. Then dukan - low fat low carb but I don't agree with his "pure protein" days - I eat protein and veg every day, but otherwise good set of rules. Then I read Lean and Clean by James Duigan, and more recently "Escape the Diet Trap" by John Briffa, and Burn the Fat by Tom Venuto.

I agree I like rules to follow, here are mine.

During weight loss phase:

a) no grains unless just after 12km run home from work (that was over the summer!) - I needed it!
b) 100g protein each day
c) loads of veg
d) one piece of low sugar fruit (eg 100g berries / apple / pear)
e) small treat every day eg square 85% chocolate.
f) only fat was in the fish / meat / eggs etc I ate
g) 1 portion 25g max nuts or seeds or olives each day
h) limit 500g on dairy - only cottage cheese / greek yogh both lower in carbs than other dairy (or could do lactofree milk)

Now I am maintaining I relax rules d) ie have more fruit & some dried fruit e) bigger treats (although still in moderation) g) might have all three.

Stick to the others though. Might have non wheat carbs at weekend.
