I am in desperate need of your best tips for losing a post-c-section tummy!

Just been to try on this dress and also this one, the latter being my fave, and both looked HIDEOUS because of my enormous tummy. I look about 5, possibly 6 mo pg. It is Not Good. I have never felt this embarrassed about the way I look. I tried on 16s which everywhere except across my tum, where my waist (ha!) used to/ought to be.

So onwards and upwards! I'd really like to go back to the shop and buy the dresses with a smile!

What can I do for the next 4-6 weeks to get my tummy down a bit?

I have the shred dvd, I have a wii fit, I will be drinking lots of water and cutting right back on booze and attempting to cut back on sugar puddings.

Am still bfing at night so sadly can't detox to kickstart things a bit.

Any top tips gratefully received!

How long ago was your CS?

I was like you, tummy looking positively pregnant. I was told at physio that it would probably not go back in on its own and I would have to have an operation.

I started running within a fitness training program and also started seeing a dietician. Two months later, I was 10 kgs lighter and two dress sizes smaller. I was breastfeeding throughout all this. Tummy still not flat but at least looks human and I fit into a size 38.

Long story short: Forget fad diets, detox nonsense, etc. Work out, start running, and eat a balanced but low-calorie diet. Your tummy will shrink in no time.

wish i'd worn one of those cummerbund waist shrinker things. I thought about but it just didn't seem that important at the time....

Did you dietician give you meal plans?

I sometimes think I need someone to tell me exactly what I need to eat. So that I don't/cannot deviate.

Will JFD some exercise eh?

Anyone else have suggestions?

I wore the post partum binding - it didn't help as I'd split my abs and will need an operation to repair them after I've finished having the ToffeeHa'pennies.

That said I've been able to make quite a difference by eating clean (lean proteins, lots of greens, some whole grains) and the Dukan diet threads on here are decent places to start with that.

I'd second the running - you develop better core muscles than doing sit-ups which will give you a longer line (and comes in useful when toddler-wrangling!)

Thats interesting.Ive had 4 sections and looked fine untill the last one 13 months ago.Ive been thinking of running but thought it would be no help for a big tum. Ill give it a go.

6 months is fine. You can start running now. Go to BUPA website and download their 5K running program. It starts you slowly. Within a few weeks, you will be amazed at how far you can run and how your body is changing!

Yes, dietitian gave me meal plans. Not cast in stone, though - I could change things around within a day. If you have a glass of wine, then don't have the fruit sort of thing. The trick is to have a meal plan that is based on what you normally eat and changes it slightly - tomato sauce rather than pesto sauce on pasta, for example.

One important thing she told me and which I still follow is that your plate should always be: 1/2 salad or vegetables, 1/4 protein (1 egg, chicken, meat, or fish), and 1/4 carbohydrates (rice, pasta, 1 slice of bread). I have exact amounts of each, if you are interested.

I would advise against Dukan and the like because your goal is to eat a balanced diet, just a bit less of everything and with less oil/fat.
