WW pro points = 600 cals per day?!

I had some soup yesterday that worked out as 10pp but was only 200 cals. So in theory, if I had soup for the three meals that day, I'd have used up all my daily pp allowance but only taken in 600-700 cals.

I know in theory I could have had a whole bowl of cauliflower or something to fill up on, but that can't be right, can it?

Was your soup high in fat? Propoints take into account the make up of the food (carbs, fat etc) as I remember ( was doing it pre-pregnancy last summer)

no, that's the thing, it was about 1.7%. It was New Covent Garden Spicy Sweet Potato soup. Very yummy but can't believe it was that high in fat. I also made some split pea soup, which has no fat at all, just onions, split peas, salt and stock and that works out at 10pp per portion too.

Well, I should at least lose weight if am sticking to it, surely? Hmm

How did you work it out as 10 pp? I've just looked it up and half a carton is 5. Did you have a whole carton? Also, looking at the ingredients, cream comes pretty high up, which I guess is where the points are coming from.

How strange! Have you tried going on the WW thread and asking those ladies? They know a lot about propoints, I now haw a newborn so with pregnancy brain am not much use!

Silverthorns · 08/03/2012 13:21

Those are the points given on the site - 5pp per half carton. But if you ate the whole carton it's only got about 215 cals, and it was def 1.7 grams of fat per 100g. Same with my soup that I made, it's about 300 cals but 10 points per bowl.

I might pop over and ask.

This is the calculation:

points = (protein / 10.94) + (carbs / 9.17) + (fat / 3.89) - (fibre / 12.49)

So the more fibre and protein a meal has, the fewer points it will have for the same calories.

That's interesting, I wondered how they worked it out. Still means that depending on your choices you could be getting by on very few calories...
