Eating healthily in order to put weight on

There are lots of support groups on MN for people trying to lose weight. Indeed they helped me at one point.

Somewhat unfortunately, I have lost rather more than I bargained for, and now am more than a stone underweight.

I wondered if there were other people out there in the same sort of predicament, and consciously trying to eat healthily in order to put weight on.

My food intake today has been much better than normal.

Breakfast - Latte (NOT Americano) and smoothie
Lunch - Pork, green beans, potatoes, white wine sauce
Snack - Tuna mayonnaise and sweetcorn sandwich
Supper - Chicken curry, rice. Managed a pudding of rhubarb crumble and custard

All portions have been small, but for me, it's been a great day for calories :) I think I might have managed my 5-a-day as well because the smoothie counted for two :)

A friend of mine once put on a stone doing Slimfast, because she thought you had them in addition to your meals, rather than instead of your meals. I realise that is quite funny, but it did work Smile

Is there a supplement you can take? Maybe speak to a nutritionist?

Thanks Lavita! I don't like the look of those Slimfast things though, and I'm trying to regain some weight and my boobs naturally :)

Quattrocento - you might also want to get checked for any underlying illnesses though

Quattrocento · 29/02/2012 22:55

Aww thanks! Have just had a full medical thingy though, and I checked out fine. Thin but fine. Apart from needing some more anti-oxidants or something (that was flagged amber) but nothing fundamentally wrong

If you in good health, you may want to be careful about eating excessively, especially if in the past you have been overweight...

Having said that, I am no doctor. You may want to have a discussion with your GP to get his advice on how to put weight on sensibly.

What about doing some regular exercise in parallel? (You might be doing this already though...).

Hi quarto, I do sympathise as I was in your position about 6 months.

I think you are doing the right thing by trying to eat 3 meals a day. I did exactly that and gradually just tried to increase portion size.

Also would you be able to eat a bit more for breakfast? Although I never really feel like it, I try to have something like poached/scrambled egg and a slice of toast. It's healthy, gives you a bit of protein and gives you some extra calories. Or peanut butter on toast is a good one on the rare occasion I feel really hungry in the morning.

Breakfast? Okay I will try it. I do exercise already.
