....get my willpower back. Feeling so low at the moment. Last year I lost 17.5 pounds on ww. Went on holiday in June and have slowly put all back on.

I'm still doing ww but I can't seem to stick to the plan...I don't know whats going wrong. I'm working really long hours (60+) every weekend am exhausted.

I do zumba every week, and I know I should do more exercise but it's so upsetting having to do it on my own.

Any tips would be very welcomed x

Hi mummyandnanny. I am currently reading a good book that is really inspiring me. Jillian Michaels - Master your Metabolism.

Can you work out why you can't stick to the plan? Is it because you can't eat what you want to eat or is there another reason? Could be that it is down to the very long hours alone.

I'm finding the book very helpful because it is not a diet book, it is about changing your diet permanently and eating for maximum health. I find that I can't follow rigid plans or calorie counting as A) I tend to get obsessed and B) I love my own cooking and food in general and I'm not about to change.

If WW isn't working then you must find something else, there are loads of threads on here with different approaches to explore.

I would say that you do need to go easy on yourself, if you are working that hard then you might need to up your calorie intake. I don't know much about WW but might it be that it is not calculated for someone working as hard as you are?

One of the key points from the Jillian Michaels is (common sense really) to eat every four hours and to weight your calorie intake towards the beginning of the day so - eat a large breakfast. I definitely feel like a changed person since I've been eating a massive bowl of porridge for breakfast, previously I would get starving before lunch and stuff a pile of biscuits in. You have to avoid getting to that point where you are so hungry that you overeat to compensate.

It's so difficult with long hours isn't it, I do 60+ as well. All I can suggest is upping your water intake, that has helped me soooo much. And my skin is amazing!

I can never get to any classes due to work so I do DVDs at home. And i power-walk the school run!

Willpower is a devious thing, strikes at the oddest times- I started my current weightloss journey just before Christmas, is there any worse time! I do think it's important to get into the right 'headspace', I lost 4st then just wilted and gave up because my head wasn't in it. I'm trying so hard to keep motivated this time round! I still have 3.5st at least to lose :( But less than a stone to lose to get down to overweight! Never been overweight before, whole new catagory for me.

Interesting book Pseudonymity I'm going to check that out! I'm reading everything I can at the moment, helps motivation and hopefully will give ideas for maintenance once I get there.

I don't really like weightwatchers as a diet concept as basically you can eat what you want but exercise control over portions. Plus still eat sugar and wheat which are addictive but you are supposed to control the addiction. This is very hard longer term when you stop calorie counting. Much better to cut out unhealthy processed foods, just don't eat them at all. I actually find dukan works well at work eg tub cottage cheese and tin tuna for lunch. Natural yoghurt at 5pm. I have the jillian michaels book and like that too although some of her rules eg no food after 9pm might be harder with long hours.

Its a lifestyle change - I reached my target weight in June and have kept it off. I go off road at the weekend (not bingeing but not esp careful) but know to maintain my weight I need then to be fairly careful all week.

I read wheat belly and at the moment anyway i don't eat wheat even at weekends.

I've ordered Wheat Belly, and am currently reading Escape the Diet Trap. Very interesting things, changing my way of thinking.

I am going to read Escape the Diet Trap next, that book sounds great, heard the guy talking on the radio. I don't eat an awful lot of wheat anyway but I do love sourdough bread from the (poncey Grin ) artisan bakers, so I don't buy it often. Interestingly, over in the far east where the carbohydrate intake is mostly rice people are constantly on about cutting down on rice and eating a healthier alternative such as wheat!!!

Taking my cue from Jillian I think that some carb intake is essential and if you exercise and don't eat carbs you are damaging yourself, your body is eating up your muscles for energy. I don't know about anyone else but I feel vile if I don't eat any carbs.
