Just that really.....I have never really admitted to myself that I am fat, but at 5 foot 10 and 19 stone I am MASSIVE. 8 months post-pregnancy (but still no excuse). Would LOVE to do it. Need help - anyone in? (I am a MAJOR challenge!)

Disclaimer - I don't live in the UK so don't have access to clubs etc. All ingredients are in a language I don't speak and I can find a million other excuses to just eat chocolate!

First step is wanting to make the change! I started off at 21st and 5 foot 2! Currently 12st 6 (after 10 years, I could add!) and hoping to hit 'overweight' next month! Never got that low before!

My thinking has completely changed recently, I'm seriously looking at low-carb as a maintenance plan. I never thought I could live with very few carbs but I'm on week 6 and loving it! Loving the loss too.

I'd recommend going on minimins.com and looking at all the different diets, plans, ways of eating. Thats where I found my current diet and where I ge t aton of support and kicks up the bum when I want to give up!

Which country are you in? Maybe some MNers who speak the language could help you out with what to look for in the supermarkets. We're in Germany, if that's any good.

I used food focus.co.uk to log all food and exercise and lost over 4 stone. It does have all the branded stuff which you can't buy but also has an unbranded version and any meals you make you can add all the ingredients and store 'meals'

I have done vlcd, atkins, low carb, slimming world and every other diet under the sun. The only thing that has worked for me is eat less (but nothing 'banned') and move more. Sounds dull and no quick 'fix' but it changes your perception of food, what your body avtually needs and, more importantly for me portion sizes.

Good luck Smile

Don't worry about ingredient labels in a foreign language, you don't need to buy anything that has a list of ingredients.

Fruit, veg, meat, fish, eggs is a good start to a healthy diet.

Ten minute walk a day, add 5 minutes to your walk each week.

Log what you eat on somewhere like foodfocus / myfitnesspal - really opens your eyes to how much you are actually eating.

I'm saying all of this after loosing a good few stone a couple of years ago but I'm heading back that way so really should take my own advice.

Good luck
