what are your favourite recipe books? I know there are tons of websites out there but some of them just make the food look horrendous (y'know big slabs of mince with cheese melted over bleurgh!) I browse through various cook books and try to low-carb the recipes but I haven't got that many and was thinking of investing in a few more.

I am low-carbing and not using sweeteners or sugar in any form so don't need a book with loads of deserts in just some interesting flavoursome main meals. I am eating a lot of fat-only meals at the moment too.

I dislike recipe books without photos though - maybe I lack imagination but I like to see a photo of a dish that makes me want to eat it Grin

One of my staple dishes is at the moment (or would be if I hadn't fallen off the wagon these past months Blush) is this

Ooo, excellent thread...marking my place. I've just started low carbing (sort of) I've basically cut out all bread, flour, pasta and switched to brown rice. I'm hoping this will be enough to lose a bit of weight but I dont want to go full on low carb because I am still feeding dd.

Nice link, I'm saving that for when I need it! I'm currently on a VLCD so low-carb, in ketosis. I'm looking at options for when I'm done, I was going to go back to the Rosemary Conly, low-fat low-gi kind of thing but am really considering low carb now.

I can't properly recommend any as I haven't got to the point of using any, but so far I've bought the Idiot-Proof Diet book which has interesting stuff in, and today I found the cookbook for the plan in the library so will be reading though that and seeing if it's worth buying for the future. I can recommend going to the library though, I saw about 4 low-carb cookbooks there and I got one called Living Low Carb by Jonny Bowden which looks like a review of lots of low-carb plans and should be interesting!

Oh just saw you prefer photos, the Idiot-Proof cookbook doesn't have any Blush

I am low carbing and having the same problem - I have adapted a few recipes but would love a good recipe book.

I have a vast collection of cookery books and was going to go through them all looking for low carb ideas so will let you know if any books are any good.

If anyone wants to post their favourite Low-carb recipes here then that would be good too! I like a lot of BBC GoodFood online recipes - they always have a lovely photo and easy to follow instructions from a wide range of chefs.

I have the Zoe Harcombe recipe book but I find it so uninspiring because it hasn't got any photos [shallow emoticon]

Right, have just looked through a few books but everything seems to be a mix of high and low carb recipes. Surprisingly, the best ratio of low:high carb I have found so in my collection is Nigella Summer, but there is still a whole (big) chapter on puddings and another one on pasta, so probably not worth buying. I found a few things on Nigella.com though and they even have pictures. I make the aubergine thing all the time in the summer, it's really nice.

aubergine with feta and chilli

ginger and duck salad

chicken and yogurt/chilli dip

www.fabulousfoods.com/recipes/search/title:low+carb
check this out, I just came across it on another site so haven't had a chance to properly explore, looks interesting though, especially the quiche pizza thing!

When I did low carb, I struggled to find a recipe book (other than the Idiot Proof Diet Book) because even the 'low carb' ones had different definitions of what 'low carb was'.

I ended up adapting favourite recipes and picking recipes out from favourite books.

that's not a great help is it?

The BEST book ever for low carbing is the Recipe Book (yellowy pink one) that accompanys with the Idiot Proof diet book (pink one). There are hundreds of recipes in there - shepherds pie, moussaka, curries, salads, soups, snacks, muffins, desserts you name it, it is in there. Well worth the money and the only thing that has kept me and my husband maintaining our weight loss in the last year. I will say though, some of the portions are wrong for example they say the moussaka is for 2 when we can actually get at least 6 portions out of the recipe.

The other thing to consider is that the Idiot Proof Diet is in three stages and you have to watch the recipe book and make sure you are not eating something that is mean't for phase three when you should be doing phase 2 - this is mainly the desserts but a lot of recipes will say in Phase 3 add some such and such which is carbier so watch that.
