Quick story : have lost 1.5stones in last few months, just by not snacking and doing more exercise. Am a healthy weight overall BUT I'm such a pear that whilst the top of me is quite svelte, my bottom and thighs are still HUMONGOUS !

Is there any way you can lose weight specifically from one particular area ? don't want to lose any more from chest (scrawny) or tummy (still wibbly but fine).
I'm a jogger, do shredding etc - any other tips ?!!! Help !

Keep on going. My weight goes from hips/bum/thighs last as well, think genetics and you can't influence. Got great figure now, but had to get body fat under 20% and BMI to 21 to achieve this. What is your BMI?

Not sure there is much you can do to prevent more weight loss from tummy or chest. I have dealt with this by lifting weights to increase size of muscles in upper body so no longer looking scrawny.

I agree with forever. I am pear shaped but have worked hard to develop my upper body to make myself look more like an hourglass. I also do a lot of exercise overall (5/6 days a week. Running and circuit training.) I still don't have a tiny bottom half tbh, but am now a large 10/small 12 on the bottom and probably only half a size smaller on the top.

I am a similar shape, and I agree with forever - you just have to keep going, the fat will come off those stubborn areas eventually!

Unfortunately I don't think there's any way you can lose fat just from specific areas - if only there was :(

Thanks all....yes bmi is 24 so there is still plenty that could be lost, but am quite large frame, so don't want to get skinny. And I've definitely noticed some loss from bottom half already - just not as much as up top :(

I agree re.building up top half - I think it's that bit of skin above boobs before neck - it's so unattractive when it's really bony (And aging too...)

Guess I'll just carry on and see what happens!

Oh yes - meant to say - well done on the weight loss! Shred good for upper body definition IMHO, although not if you ponce around with 1 or 2 kg weights Wink. Need at least 3kg or more. I am not Jodie Marsh btw - like to think I look fairly normal, just with very slightly wider shoulders than before!

Agree with what everyone else said, yes I am 8 10, if I was 10 stone my BMI would be 24 and the extra 18 pounds would mainly be on bum hips & thighs....

Def agree re: shred I have 2kg and 4kg weights for shred, use 4kg whenever possible and 2kg if really not possible. I am lifting in gym 25kg on bench press and 15kg on shoulder press. Plus also biceps and triceps and shoulders etc with my 4kg weights at home.

I read something in a fitness magazine a while ago that basically said that because BMI is a relatively blunt instrument, for fitness purposes women should generally be aiming at 21-23, as it was at that weight that people appeared to be the healthiest in terms of long term illness etc. Also when they surveyed women's own views of their body image, 21 was the score that had the most positive feedback from women - interestingly those that were lower were still unhappy with their bodies. They either felt they were too skinny, or obviously had a distorted view because they still felt they were too big.

I aim to keep mine in the 21s as well. That is anything below 10 1/2 stone for me, as I am 5 ft 10. As long I don't booze too much and avoid too many carbs then I can do this. I still have cake though ! Not completely carb -phobic. I think cutting back on the carbs and booze has def helped to trim my lower body.
