There will be a 'bulking agent' to pad the stevia out - you need to check what it is for the brand you bought. I panicked when I saw the same on the one dp had bought, but that uses erythritol, which is labelled as carbs but is a polyol (therefore counted as 0)

righto that clears it up nicely thanks.

although i find over 10 polyols a day isn't good ( for me)

truvia looks ok then - i have another one - which looking at the bulking agent - looks shit. might put in back of cupboard for emergencies only

This really confuses me.

I bought the truvia cos it was on offer and haven't used it yet. I still use Total Sweet which I think is nice but try not to have too much of.

Tortington · 06/02/2012 19:29

i know its bnot simple to get your head around at all - but i have found out to my cost that over 10 polyols for me is tantermount to eating a cream cake.
and sometimes it give one the shits Grin

Erythritol should be ok - it has a GI of 0. Maltitol on the other hand has a GI of nearly 50 making it almost as bad as sugar, it's also the most used polyol since it's cheap.
