Ok, having done a few classes in my normal trainers I am now thinking I need to invest in some proper shoes, partly as my knees are hurting as instead of being able to spin my shoes are sticking to the floor!

Does anyone have any recommendations.

I agree, you do need proper dance trainers. They're the style that look like they have a 'cut out' section in the middle of the sole. They're lighter and more flexible than normal trainers. I bought a pair in JJB last year, an Adidas pair, they were a real bargain but were in the sale. Can't really recommend a particular brand, but try JJB or Sports Direct, you should be able to pick up a pair relatively inexpensively. Failing that, a dance shop, but will be dearer.

I had exactly the same problem! I got some of these They definitely helped the next time i wore them. After that my knees only hurt for 1 day but i had been running that morning too. I hope that this week they wont hurt at all!

Vajazzler, are they very slippy.

Second only to worrying about my knees is the thought that I might end up on my face!

No they arent so slippy you fall on your face, they just offer less friction and its easier to turn in them.
