Is there any difference in pig2twig (India and Neris) and Zoe Harcombe?

I have been following the Harcombe diet since Boxing day. Although I feel better that the sugar cravings have gone, I don't seem to be losing any weight.

I'm thinking of buying the Idiot Proof book, I already have Zoe's, so is there much difference in the two? Or should I just keep going?

Totally different, pig to twig is basically aktins, a ketosis diet, no carbs at all.

Thanks forever? I pressed buyGrin

I've followed Pig2Twig but failed with Zoe Harcombe, just found her books unreadable. Pig2Twig is very readable and there is a good recipe book too.

Thanks MollieO.
I've not been able to put the book down, which is always a good sign. My only concern is bringing things like cream and fats back to my diet. Did anybody else get scared of eating fatty things? Does it really work?

It really does work. You're not as hungry when you cut out the carbs because you've gotten off the blood sugar roller coaster. Also, fat and protein are more satisfying and keep you fuller for longer. Tea with cream in it is quite filling whereas milky tea just isn't and because you need less cream than milk they've probably got about the same number of calories in it.
I was terrified that I'd stop losing when I switched from low carb, low fat to low carb, high fat but I'm still losing despite eating about 50% more calories.

alfiemama · 17/01/2012 12:16

Thanks QueenStromba. Luckily because I've been harcombing I have managed to get rid of the sugar cravings, so really don't want to go backwards, I can still remember the headaches Grin

I'm sat staring at my lunch thinking, I must be going wrong somewhere.

I've made my own dressing using Helmans mayo (really? full fat version eeek) and lemon juice, with salad (just green leaves) and fried up some bacon and chicken (on George Forman) and a small matchbox portion of cheese.

Does this sound ok?

Your lunch sounds perfect to me :)

Pig to twig is not no carbs at all! It is, though, a low carbohydrate plan. And, as with other plans like Atkins, you are encouraged to get your carbs from salad and vegetables.

And most low carb plans are high fat - eating fat encourages your body to burn fat.

If you're buying TIPD, buy the recipe book as well - there are some really good recipes in there.

alfiemama · 17/01/2012 16:06

Thanks Queen and BIWI.
Appreciate your help.
Are the recipes any different to the ones on the website?

OP posts:
BIWI · 17/01/2012 17:26

I don't know - I don't use the website any more.

I would suspect that they're not, or at least not all of them, otherwise no-one will want to buy the book!

alfiemama · 17/01/2012 19:45

Just I noticed some soup recipes on here which where out if the book. They are also on the forum.

I will be getting it tho. Tried the cauliflower mash tonight. It was amazingly good.

Don't know if these are on the website, but there are two amazing recipes in the book that I have just cooked for this week - moussaka and beef korma. Both really good, family meals, and you'd never, ever classify them as 'diet' food!

Catsmamma · 18/01/2012 09:10

i must re read the books, I love P2T and it really suits me, and as an aside, the whole lack of carbs helps prevent my migraines.

and yes, the korma recipe is amazing!

alfiemama · 18/01/2012 14:22

Ooh I will try them thanks. Have to say I'm loving it so far. I seem to have so much more energy. However maybe I experienced the yuck days when I did the harcombe diet so I'd already got rid of the carbs and detoxed.

I used Pig2Twig to successful lose just shy of 4 stone last year. The recipe book is very good. Low carb (NOT NO carb) seems to really suit me and is very do-able, especially if you are cooking for a family, you can just omit the carbs, e.g bread, rice, pasta, couscous and fill up on green veg and salad instead.

alfiemama · 20/01/2012 20:04

Wow Dances, well done.
Thanks everyone, I bought the recipe book and can certainly say I'm not disappointed. This woe or diet is defo for me, had a sneaky peak at scales yesterday and already dropped 3lb. Which when you look at the cheese, cream an butter it beggars belief. Grin

Ibs has improved also.

Another little update. Lost another 2lb this morning, thats 5lb now since the 17th Jan. I know it will be only water but still makes a gal feel good.
