I'm joining WW (again) tomorrow so thought this would be the best way to say goodbye to old habits and the old me....This is what I eat on a typical day. Deep breath....
7-11am: Coffee x 3(ish). Milk & 2 sugar
11am: Toast. 4 Slices, soaked in butter
2pm: Chippie lunch/Mc.D's/KFC
3pm: Chocolate
5pm: Sandwiches. 4 slices of bread. Crisps x 2. Coke 2 glasses
5.15pm: Kids leftovers
8.30pm: Lasagne/Chips/Pizza.....anything stodgy really (For some reason I HAVE to go to bed feeling completely stuffed Confused)
9.30pm-bed: Chocolate,sweets,crisps etc
Oh God, feel no better after that. Why do I do that to myself?
Oh well, everything changes tomorrow Grin

Far too much, but you know that? I'd feel so ill if I attempted. Do you enjoy eating that much food?

HOWEVER - re: joining WW AGAIN, why not try a new approach? From what you have written looks like you are a total carb addict and it might be easier for you to stick to a new way of eating if you can get rid of all your carb cravings.

I think something like the Idiot Proof Diet - Pig to Twig might suit you as it would help you get all the cravings under control - and it will teach you how to eat for lunch. WW will do neither of these things.

WhatsWrongWithYule · 11/01/2012 23:33

Main thing that strikes me is lack of breakfast, and no protein until 2pm - even then, a carb heavy meal. Plus you're prob addicted to sugar - hence tbe carbs/sweets.
Brekkie including a protein is essential. You might still be starving by lunchtime, but that's normal. And a sandwich = 2 slices of bread plus - agqin - decent wodge of protein.
Coke is utter crap, as is anything manufactured in a factory rather than your kitchen. Sounds as if you never allow yourself to actually feel hungry - bear in mind it's okay and entirely possible to eat every four hours full stop.
Good luck with it.

Have you tried the BHF (British Heart Foundation) sensible eating plan,it will show you the portions on your plate which will help you feel fuller longer and it tells you that you are far better eating 4/5 smaller meals a day and getting into a routine than stuffing all the food in that you are doing now, another thing is that you can send for the book and the classes in your area will be free if you get reffered by your doctor or nurse at your surgery,in some areas it also includes gym membership for 3 mths.Good luck

foreverondiet · 11/01/2012 23:50

Sorry meant to say teach you how to eat for life, not lunch!!!!

CointreauVersial · 11/01/2012 23:56

Where's the veg?

Where's the fruit?

Actually, where's the protein? It is all carbs.

You KNOW what you are eating is junk, but well done for putting it all down and realising you need to change.

I'm another fan of low-carbing, as opposed to calorie-counting/WW - did you know protein keeps you fuller for longer than carbs do? Whatever changes you choose to make, good luck.

ViendoOvejas · 12/01/2012 03:40

Good luck, OP. I've had days like that. Not typical, but not exactly a rarity either. Swap one meal for salad and take it from there. Baby steps. Smile

One of my biggest fantasies when I was on the Rosemary Conley diet was getting into the magazine due to weightloss. There's a box with what they ate before and after, I used to think of what would be in mine!

Before-

6.30am- 6 slices thinck white bread, thick marg, pack chicken roll
Mid morning- pack of 6 pork pies or entire pack choc digestives plus bag Liquorice alsorts
Lunch- Supernoodles with a snap pot of beans, two slices bread, then pack biscuits or a few pieces fruit
5pm- cook too much pasta, chips, fishfingers, lasagne etc for the kids and eat a portion myself!
Tea- More bread, a ready meal or two, a pizza, or maybe a sausage and chips from the chippy
Evening- multi pack of crisps, huge bar of choc or pack of biscuits. Occasionally I'd get bananas but then eat a bunch of 5 in one evening!

All of this with 2-4 liters pepsi max!

I have this written as a list on my fridge. I'm on a different diet now that requires a lot of willpower so lets see how that goes! I find keeping a diary of EVERYTHING I eat really helps- that means every crisp, every sweetie! It's shocking how much you can eat without realising.

Hopefully my 'after' diet will be so much better. The above is the kind of diet a very overweight (I was 16st 10 when I started last diet, at 5'2 thats pretty appalling!) but active person has. I walk about 10 miles a day for work or I'd be a lot bigger!

ExpatAgain · 12/01/2012 07:32

you've made the first step by being honest and writing it all down so you obviously recognise it needs to be improved which is key to being able to change it, well done for that.

Agree with the others about way too much carb, no breakfast and protein? Veg? ..Another fan of low-carbing here (there's a growing body of us, must be something in it!). Protein is much more filling - try chicken w/o the chips at KFC or cook your own (use money saved for a treat at end of the month?)

try dark chocolate (it's actually quite good for you in small amounts), it's strong so you won't be able to eat so much.

OlympicEater · 12/01/2012 09:41

YY to low carbing - its very hard to binge on meat in vast quantities

Hathall · 12/01/2012 11:33

You seem to be a carb addict.

Well done for taking the steps to deal with this but bear in mind that ww may not be ideal for you as they still allow processed food and push it too.

You need to get away from processed carbs and start eating real food as even the smallest bit of processed carb may trigger binge eating.

Your diet is so appallingly bad that your body must be lacking nourishment, vitamins and minerals.

Try low carbing, if just for a while to get rid of your cravings. You can do it in conjunction with ww. Just stick to real food. Good luck.

Have a look at this.

Well done for writing your food diary, that takes a lot of guts. I am a former fatty and never thought it would be possible to lose weight but it really is.
I wish you every success with your healthy eating.

QuietOhSoQuiet · 12/01/2012 14:30

I am a carb addict so am slowly trying to swap my toast 2 sslices I have for breakfast for 2 scrambled eggs instead and yesterday I did feel fuller for longer.I don't eat it until 10amish as after rushing kids for school come straight back and take the dog out for an hour so next step is to try to eat breakfast at the same time as ds BEFORE school run
and as expat says above try dark chocolate,I find it near on impossible to eat much of that as it's so intense

Last night for dinner I had chicken and salad but so I don't feel like I am depriving myself of carbs whilst I wean myself off I had 1 wrap to mop up the juices, went to bed feeling much lighter than if I had eaten stodge

GlueSticksEverywhere · 12/01/2012 14:45

Wow! I suppose at least having such a terrible diet (which I am sure you know it is) it should be fairly easy to lose weight by making a few changes. The tricky bit is making the changes last long term.
