I am 31 quite active mum of twin boys age 3 one has autism. I have battled with my weight for as long as i can remember and enough is enough. I weigh ......(i can't believe I am doing this) Blush 19st 6lb!!!! Sad I am only 5ft 3in tall too Shock Need to shift about half of my bodyweight!! Have not been that light since I was 15!!!

I have done weight watchers and slimming world and asked gp for help and still no better. Lost a bit and then gained all and more. I love my food too much Sad

I joined a gym on monday and have decided if i want to enjoy my food i will have to work for it. Plus its a bit of me time when the boys are at playschool.
Induction on Sunday @ 1pm. Doing first excercise class tomorrow either LBT or spinning? then a swim followed by a cuppa. (no extras)

Life story over.

Anyone have any weight issues or in similar boat would love to hear from you.

Not similar issues as I have lost in now (4 stone of baby weight), but I wanted to say hello well done for doing something about it and I suggest:

  1. MFP religiously log everything that goes into your mouth.
  2. Exercise - you are already doing but buy shred for non gym days
  3. Something to address tendency to overeat, I like Gillian Riley's "eating less"
[http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eating-Less-Say-Goodbye-Overeating/dp/0091902479/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1326308301&sr=1-1 link]
  1. Some hypnosis to help you on the way - I like Lisa Jackson's Adore Yourself Slim but there are other weight loss hypnosis options.
  2. Careful thought about which sort of diet to do. I found weight loss easiest on low carb (but not ketosis) diet as sticking to this meant I didn't really have carb cravings. I still don't eat grains (unless do huge amount of exercise ie run 10km!) but do eat starchy veg and some low fat dairy and some fruit (best to stick to one a day).
  3. Accept that its going to take a while so its not a diet more a new way of life.

I'm 32 and weighs 66.6kg and 5ft 2in tall. I want to lose weight but cannot stop eating too much. I dont have time for excercise as I look after my 18m old baby after work. I'm on a medication that increases ones appetite which does not help. I wish I could stop eating too much.

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 11/01/2012 19:07

Hi OP I need to lose a similar amount of weight - I'm determined. I have a thread in general health if you want to come over?

clpsmum · 11/01/2012 20:34

Hi Op, I feel I MUST join you in your weightloss. I am 35 with three boys one of them is 3yo and autistic too! I have 3stone 5pm to lose to get to my target. I'm using My fitness pal counting calories and exercising. Shall we have a weekly weigh in to encourage each other???

I survived Grin
Feel great and oh how I feel it now. I did legs bums and tums and was ready too keel over after the walk there and the warm up! Then I did a 20 min swim followed by a well deserved cuppa. Whew.
Had a nice healthy lunch (jacket potato cottage cheese and salad) I even stopped when I started to feel full and threw the last bit away instead of eating it anyway. Yay me.

Then I went nuts. Scrubbing the kitchen floor and changing sheets. Mental. Now in process of making bread for hubby. (bread maker making the dough I just make it into rolls or loaf and pop it in the oven.) kids think mummy is funny during the above tasks and try to "help"

Hi there

I'm 5'10 and weigh nearly 15st. My healthy BMI shows my ideal weight is less than 12st, but I'd look skeletal if I lost that much, so put me down for 13st.

I eat way too much and at the moment I'm eating too much chocolate and crap. That's the first thing to go, then I'm starting my Active Wii game, then I'm gonna do C to 5k.

I'm in USA in April and I want to buy myself Levis for the first time in 20-odd years! Sad, I know but I'm hoping that'll be enough of a driver. Will start tracking on Monday (WW). I know it sounds like Manyana, but my daughter is 11 on Sunday and she's having a sleepover with 10 friends on Saturday. I don't want to set myself up to fail by starting the diet today!

Onwards....

iwanttogetoffnow · 18/01/2012 11:32

how is everyone getting on? I weighed in this morning and ive lost 4lb!!!!

Had my induction at the gym and had a taster personal trainer session on Monday. I loved it so much I have booked him for a month!
1 he is yummy Wink(but married too with 2 little ones)
2 he makes you work hard but only within your limits and gives excercises to maximise every movement so you get the most out of the workout (without being in pain after). Blush
3 Also keeping a food diary and have put the old slimming world head on a bit just to remind me what I should be eating then I will show "Patrick" as he will be looking at my diet too. wooooo hooooo

hope you are all well. Please keep in touch.

would just like to recommend The Adventures of Dietgirl by Shauna Reid as a funny autobiographical look at losing a large amount of weight.

MummyFirst · 23/01/2012 13:19

Hello I want, I've just found your thread and wanted to join. I'm going for my first weigh in tonight but stared last week at (OMG can't beleive i'm putting this in print) 11st 4lbs! Blush.

To put me in a healthy but not skeletal BMI I should be 8st 10lbs or thereabouts!

I have 2 DC's who are my world and want to be a fitter healthier mummy for them.

Having tried all the diets under the sun (literally) and having recently discovered an intolerance to wheat, a byproduct of PCOS, I have embarked upon the lighter life plan.

I feel like i'm cheating a little taking such drastic action but I really need the kick up the bum that such a strict diet entails. (I have learnt the best of ways to cheat on SW WW and RC)!

I have picked up the exercise though and make a point of taking the DC's out in the wet and wild at the weekend with the dog, a) the dog and the kids are shattered and b) hopefully I will be looking more like a yummy mummy sooner!

I'll post back tomorrow with my weigh in.

Fingers crossed Smile

MummyFirst · 24/01/2012 09:35

Wow, what a result, really pleased with myself, got 6lbs off in my first week, which is an exaggerated result being my first week and all but it has taken me under the 11st mark!! I am so pleased!!

Thank you for this thread, I feel fab.

How are you doing this week?

iwanttogetoffnow · 24/03/2012 12:34

sorry for the delay in reply mummyfirst I thought everyone had done a runner from me :-(
How is you weightloss going?

I have lost a whole stone! It has been 2 months but also toning up with regular trips to the gym and Zumba classes yeeehaw.

Still a long way to go but loving it.

shinecrazydiamond · 24/03/2012 18:05

OP- Well done on your loss so far.

I don't have similar issues in that I only want to lose a stone but I wanted to comment. I would concentrate on the food thing first before flinging yourself into a fitness regime. Obviously exercise is important but FAR more important is to get a grip on your diet first.. What plan are you following? i highly recommend cutting down on your carb intake. I have found this tricky but it really does make a massive difference.

shinecrazydiamond · 24/03/2012 18:06

I only read your OP and see you have now lost a stone. Bloody hell - that is brilliant! Fab news

shinecrazydiamond · 24/03/2012 18:08

mummyfirst - I am surprised you are following LL at only 11 stone Shock - unless you are 3 foot tall?

iwanttogetoffnow · 31/03/2012 11:36

thank you shine.

I will have a go at the cutting down on carbs. Sounds Hard.
I have approached my GP for diet advice (tried SW and WW and confused now with all conflicting info) He has refered me to a local dietican for diet/weight loss advice and regular support! Result!

Had a go at yoga this week OUCH. I keep trying and i'm getting better but still feel silly and DS1 & 2 "helping" by climbing on/under whilst attempting to hold a position!!!!Grin

Please feel free to join in people. I am friendly and do not judge anyone.

Hi All

Please can I join you? I'm a mum of 3 dc's, one is 13 and the twins are 3. I'm 5ft 10" and weigh 16s 2lb. I have gained the extra pounds over a 3 year period and feel terrible about myself. I have already lost 1/2 a stone in the last 3 weeks so must be doing something right. Just need to keep up with the motivation. I'm not an idle person but one who eats too much of everything so portion control is the key for me.

Thanks Gilbert x

iwanttogetoffnow · 25/04/2012 22:57

sorry for slow reply gilbert.
you sound alot like me with the portion sizes and wow twins too!

I have now lost 1 stone 5 lb yipeeeee.

Look forward to hearing your results in the future.

I am not quick at replying but I will reply eventually. As you know twins can be hard work.

Lisa xx
