Exercise and Diet Advice

I desperately need to lose weight. Must be at least 4 stone but not got the nerve to weigh myself.

I need to do a lot of exercise and cut out on food. as much as possible.

The problems I have are: I am constantly feeling really hungry, especially during night feeds

I don't have a lot of time

My C section wound is still weeping and making exercise difficult.

What can I eat that I will feel less hungry, what exercises can I try and fit in? Ideally I want to see results ASAP (don't we all) and be at target by next Christmas

I take it you have very recently given birth if your section is still weeping

am no expert but I would say just eat healthy regular meals especially if you are bf as this made me really hungry and thirsty, drink plenty of fluid

and no exercising until the doc has said ok,when I was told ok I had an exercise bike that I used to sit on in front of the tv and just trundled along on very slowly,I took walks

give yourself time chilbirth by section is a huge trauma to the body,be kind to yourself and above all be patient and eat sensibly

Increase the amount of protein you're eating. It will help to make you feel fuller. Try to avoid too much fat, but don't cut it out altogether.
Prepare healthy snacks in advance in the fridge so they are handy. You won't make a sandwich if you only have to unwrap a bar of chocolate.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids too - water or low sugar squash.
We often mistake thirst for hunger.
And don't starve yourself, it's counter productive in terms of weight loss, will impair wound healing & make coping with sleep deprivation, crying etc etc so much harder.

Congratulations on your baby and take it easy on yourself for now - until fully recovered from the birth and less fatigued from night feeds. For now, try to make healthy choices (fresh fruit and veg), drink 2 litres of water a day and avoid the cakes and chocolates. Once you can, try wakling lots with the baby (faster than you would normally walk) to build up stamina - once you feel up to it you could check out buggy workouts locally or gyms you could join. Walking and buggy work outs, plus drinking lots of water and healthy foods, meant I lost all my baby weight from DS2 by the time I returned to work (when he was 7 months old).

Don't think about dieting for a while yet, sit on the sofa and eat cake!

When I finally weighed myself when DS2 was 6 months old and he was no longer being EBF I was over 3 stone overweight... I embarked on a high protein, low carb, loads of veg diet with no processed food and 1200 cals a day.

I ended up losing almost 4 stone. I started when he was 6 months in Sept 2010 and by his birthday I was at my target and then I lost another10lbs by June and I have maintained since then.

Yes, don't diet or exercise until your baby is 2-3 months old at least. Make healthy choices, but eat and drink when you need to. And when you feel up to it, some brisk walks with the buggy.

I found I still was very flabby straight after birth, and much of it was fluid etc. it wasn't until baby was about 8 weeks I had an accurate idea of how much weight I needed to loose.
