What can i start with? Was planning on hitting the gym tomorrow for a walk but can i do gentle weights yet?

Honestly I am 6 months down the line from my cs section and I have only just been able to start exercising again. I was walking to and from school which is a few miles away from about a week and have continued to do so as I have so much weight to lose. My tummy was and is just So painful . Take it easy it's early days .i m doing the couch to 5 k programme again to regain my fitness.

God. I want to be at least 10 kgs down by then. I may be being unrealistic.

Right oh = off to check the couch to 5....

I agree with bish you MUST take it easy I wouldn't go near a gym for a good while like 6 months. at least. Maybe just a few squeezes .You know pelvic floor exercises, plus just pulling in yr belly muscles ( start by counting to 5 then 10 then 20 etc.) While yr sitting down or whatever. i would look at the paul mckenna way of eating which is a way of eating (not a diet) and you could do it gradually like yr exercises. Good luck Smile

Don't do anything for a while yet.

I was stupidly fit before my sections (at the gym until a week before my dc's were born) but I didn't risk going back to the gym until 12 weeks post CS, even then I did an old-lady level of exercise.

It's not worth the risk. Do some gentle walking if you feel up to it but your insides are no where near healed up enough for a workout.

I know , I wanted to be thin again by now but sometimes you have to go with how you feel. I have had so much pain and I literally lost all my core strength that it just wasn't possible Sad

You are probably right - it's my third section and i'm panicked that the weight will somehow 'stick' and become unshiftable, IYKWIM.

I am panicking too but am attacking it now . I feel embarrassed being 3 stone overweight . I am determined to get rid of it and I think if you are determined you will do it .. Good luck Smile

Maybe just start gently after your six week check? Walks with the pram etc to get you moving at least, maybe swimming then take it from there and see how you go? I have a mass of weight to lose after cs no 3 in two weeks, and that's how I'm attempting to get started. At least you'd be doing something to get a wee boost. Hard when you want it all to just drop off straight away though!

Do either of you have a weird relationship with your body now? I look at my body and feel so disengaged from it. I can't believe it's 14kgs away from where i was post DC1, which is still heavy. I still am me but with such a weird body shape i just can't relate to it or imagine what 3.5 stone looks like. TBH i can't believe it's that much as it is so gargantuan, how could i have put it on. It's only really 1.5stone (in my head!).

Anyway, weighed myself and did a very gentle week 1 of C25K. Food diary stars today. Definitely feel happier for at least trying to take some control.

Yes, it took me a long while to realise how fat I was. I squeezed into some tops and looking back it was grim. I had to give in and buy size 14 clothes, previously 8-10. Yes my body is a different shape. I have always been hourglass with a flat tummy , now I'm kind is square with a sticky out tummy . It's hard to look at yourself isn't it?

Had my csection 12 weeks ago, lost a stone before xmas through cutting out all the rubbish i had been eating..biscuits etc.

Need to get back on it now, have got to fit in my wedding dress in September, need to lose another stone and a half i think. Would like to lose it by June so i can have dress fittings etc.

I had a very easy recovery but only now do i really feel ready to start proper exercise, have started walking for an hour with the pushchair every day if i can. Have also been doing these exercises here to try and improve my stomach area, it looks a bit landslide-ish at the moment, am hoping it can be improved.

Maybe in a few weeks try some gentle swimming?

Forgot to say i am trying to get down to a small size 12 which is about right for my height.

I don't recognise my body in the mirror either, my tummy was never flat, but now i have been left with skinny legs/bum, smallish boobs and then a big round belly. Not attractive. Grin

My hands and feet look normal though, now that i'm not pregnant. Grin
