This may sound like a daft question, but I?m genuinely intrigued by this.
I?m not massively overweight (need to lose about a stone), and I don?t eat masses either - my diet is mainly healthy, but I do have a tendency to the munchies and therefore eat crap more often than I should. I?m pretty active as I have two little DCs who never stop (sigh), we do lots of walking and other activities. The point is that I?m not that far off a healthy lifestyle.
I?m attempting to lose the excess and I?m trying to stick within a calorie restriction of 1400 a day, and also eat the right stuff. I?m only 4? 11? so most of the calorie counting sources I?m been to suggest a limit of 1200-1500 calories a day to lose weight, so I don?t think 1400 is unreasonably low. I was probably eatinga round 2000 before, but a lot of that would have been 'empty' calories.
Today I had a big salad for lunch, lots of greens, a light dressing, some chicken, seeds, cous cous. Probably about 400-500 calories. That was an hour and a half ago, and I?m now ravenous again. So what now? I?ve never really dieted properly before and I can?t accept the fact that I have to spend hours of each day feeling hungry. Surely you?re only supposed to feel actual hunger in the hour or so before eating?? NB this is also my first day back at work so this is actually the least active day I?ve had since going on maternity leave.
Maybe my calorie intake isn?t enough for the activity I do? Or perhaps I should ditch the calorie counting and just eat when I?m hungry as long as it?s the right foods? Or is it normal to feel this hungry on the first few days of a new diet? Any advice would be most welcome!!
