i am 5ft 4 and small framed - i used to be very slim (7stone 5) no effort needed.
as i got a little older i needed to watch it a bit and used WW and slimming world, both achieved good results. (stayed at around 8st 7)

as i am now approaching 40, i found i put alot of weight on, im a stone more than i want to be. im now 10st 7, i dont want to be super skinny - if i could get to about 9st 7 id be happy - goalposts moved!)

I find dieting a massive effort now for very little gain.
WW has got so complicated! Slimming world i didnt enjoy and i would find it very difficult to do any cooked breakfasts on certain days when i am working early shifts.

i exercise regularly (not for 3 weeks due to injury but will be again very soon) which involves running and weights/cardio at the gym. I have exercised for 2 years and never lost any weight.

i am not brilliant at planning meals, and i work shifts which mean i often eat at odd times.

Which diet plan would be fairly hassle free, easy to do and follow, to get a stone off.

And what snacks can i eat that are filling but healthy? Fruit never fills me. I need things i can carry with me in the car.

i am going to have to make a concerted effort to get any weight off. I am going to run one day and gym the next, which i need to do anyway to get my fitness levels back following this injury. (i need to be fit for work)

any pearls of wisdom/thoughts/weight loss plan suggestions or diet tips would be very welcome. im hoping this will motivate me, as im really not happy at this weight/shape at all. its time to do something about it.

thanks....

Oooo....good question. One I am debating myself at the moment.
I have personally never fancied the Slimming World way as I don't like the fact that it limits certain foods. My friend swears by it though. Another friend didn't get on with it as she over ate on the plan.

My sister liked the no longer available core plan on weightwatchers. Eat low fat, cook from scratch, low carbs. Processed food limited due to a weekly point allowance. Eat until full then stop.

Personally I got on well with WW vintage points. I like being in control and don't mind tracking everything I eat. I got to goal, but let it slip away.
I tried the new points plan and just didn't get on with it. It could be that I wasn't very committed though, but found the weekly points an easy way to excuse weekend blow outs. I found it then difficult to get back on track.

At the time I was working part time and weighing in on a Fri a.m. I would then not count my points Fri and struggle to be good over the weekend.

I'm full time for the next school term and am going to count my points for all that time and see how I get on....but not sure whether to go points or pro points....

The diet that I use is an internet-based calorie controlled one - you can eat whatever you want as long as you stay within your daily allowance and you get extra calories for the exercise that you do (I exercise 4-5 times a week and it makes a big difference to how much you can actually eat). I lost 3 stone on it very easily. Unfortunately I have put over a stone back on so am starting again on Monday Sad

I did do SW for a while over the summer but found it very restrictive and very difficult if you haven't got the time to prepare all your meals from scratch - the diet I do allows you to pick up a sandwich from a shop if you need to.

P.S. I quite liked myfitnesspal.com

Pros
Easy to just track cals and you didn't need to guess while out as to how many points were in something if eating out or shopping at the supermarket.
You could track easily online from their free system. Lots of foods on their database.
You could put in exercise.
It also kept track of things like fat if you wanted to eat healthily, keep track of salt etc.
Nice forum for food talk.
Some people leave their diaries open so you can see how they eat and get ideas from them

Cons
I didn't like the fact that others can look at what I've eaten, but I'm sure I can set it up to be more private than that.
If you add exercise then it lets you eat more. Although you don't have to, obviously and if you earnt points you could do the same.

Actually I think I've made my mind. Myfitnesspal.com, but double check against old points values on days I have too much time on my hands in an evening as I know I've lost on old points before but can't always work out all the values now and miss being able to track online as no longer a member of ww.

mmmm

i liked the vintage points system on ww - but now everyhting is bloody pointed up for pro points.

i could dig out all my old ww books and just follow that....

or i could do my fitness pal on the iphone. but i found it fiddly to add all the foods...saying that you can just put the calories in cant you?

might do that. i always carry my phone with me so i could track easily.

really need to do this. if i get my act together i could do this.
im going to have to not buy wine - thats my downfall. no wine
i will swap it for slimline gin and tonic, just one on a night. that way i dont feel deprived!
i can go without food. cant go without a wind down glass of something though.
