Which weight loss programme

Hi

I'm trying to lose about a stone. Am 5'2" and about 9 stone 3. I basically just want to be able to wear my size 10 clothes without feeling tight in them.

What weight loss programme would you recommend that fits easily around family meals and is reasonable cheap and not too faddy. I don't have too much time to faff around finding special ingredients etc so it needs to be easy to fit in around usual family cooking.

I mainly want to lose off my hips and stomach (Which was very stretched since having a 10lb baby 5 years ago).

Any recommendations for weight loss programmes would be very welcome!

I found weight watchers very adaptable but if you don't mind food without sauce slimming world is also highly recommended.

That said at your height and weight I would suggest an exercise regime instead

Marking my place. Was thinking exactly the same thing.
Need to lose 2.7 stone mainly off hips, tums and bum

Lack of exercise is probably my main issue. I'm wondering about one of the Rosemary Conley Inch Loss programmes. I have done weight watchers in past. It did work but I got tired of calculating points in the end. I just want something thats easy to do really

I highly recommend WW, Meetings are best but their online system is really good. Or you can do a mix of both. Points system is very easy to do and can work easily alongside family meals.

When combined with exercise, something like Zumba, it's brill.

X-posts, maybe just try upping your exercise then? Something energetic which burns maximum kcals in minimum time - again, either Zumba, combat, attack, or spinning. Smile

why not devise your own?

calorie counting- aim for 1000-1200 a day and cut back on saturated fats, sugar and refined carbs is not hard.

Loadsof info online about calorie values of food.

I found a calorie counter app on iPad so I think I will try that first and maybe the wii fit.

I started Rosemary Conley at the beginning of December and had lost half a stone in the first couple of weeks (hopefully not put it all back on over Christmas). It doesn't really feel like a diet at all and it's easy to get into the habit of watching your portion sizes and checking labels for fat content. I'd definitely recommend it.

Are the foods on Rosemary Conley reasonably easy to find?

I like the idea of an exercise DVD but I have two left feet so not very good at following them! Are the exercises easy?

The exercises are easy but you can work up a good sweat if you want to.

The food is easy too once you get used to it, especially when you find some nice low fat recipes that make good dinners - and also find ways to cut the fat in the things you already make. I didn't think much of the dinner suggestions given in the book (the one you get when you join the club) but it's easy to use as a guideline to come up with things that will suit you and your family.

If you're ordering her book and doing it yourself I'd recommend that you also order her portion pots so you can portion out your cereal/pasta/rice etc.

I lost 3.5 stone last year, (and have kept it off for 6 months now) and I am not a fan of weight watchers, I think it encourages you to buy their food, which isn't particularly healthy as its expensive, plus the cost of attending the meetings or paying for the online service. Also I am not sure it encourages your to change the way you eat which IMO is important to keep the weight off.

Why not devise your own around the food you like to eat - I have done low fat low(ish) carb and logged the food on myfitnesspal. Rosemary Conely low GI very useful for meal plans. I also used other books for inspiration, eg duakn, south beach.
