Baby 10 mths old, still look 6 months pregnant. Help!

My problem is that my belly still looks pregnant, seriously.

It is not just a pouch below the belly button like most women who have given birth. My belly has a pregnancy like bump which curves out from under the boobs to just above the pubic hair line Sad

I have random people asking me if I'm expecting or when is baby due - checkout operators, people in the street, etc. I am sick of having to point out 10 month old baby and then watch them frantically back pedal whilst I put on a brave face.

I have lost most of the baby weight elsewhere so the belly really sticks out.

I am still breastfeeding and wondering if it might deflate further when I finally stop?

Just wondering has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to make it better?

I have tried pilates and walk everywhere but neither have had much effect.

This might sound weird but I had this problem and had it suggested that I take omega 3 supplements or evening primrose oil. I started taking omega 3 and within 2 weeks my fat distribution changes to less on the stomach. There wasn't any less fat - just less stomach fat!

My baby is now 6 months, but I started taking them at 4 months.... doesn't look too bad now.

You could try ditching bread and see if that helps.

Oooh LittleWaveyLines I think I have some omega 3 supplements somewhere...

Will give it a go.

Do you know how this works?

LittleWaveyLines · 22/12/2011 12:47

No idea, sorry! Might be to do with the good fats subtly altering hormone levels? Might have been a coincidence it worked for me, but worth a try I reckon Grin

Omega 6 and omega 3 make hormones that balance each others effects, if you get the same amount of each (as our ancestors would have) then everything works fine but if you get too much of one then then it throws the system out of whack. The modern diet has a lot more omega 6 in it than omega 3 so taking an omega 3 supplement should help restore the balance of your hormones.
