it did seem to make sense, think I can do the eating what I want bit when I am hungry and enjoying it but not sure I will be able to STOP
I will give it a go, I haven't eaten yet this morning but now feel hungry so will go and consiously eat a bowl of cereal I guess.

anyone else giving it a go?

Tommy · 10/01/2006 09:25

I bought the book and CD for my DH.....
says he doesn't have time to sit and listen to it though

tracyk · 10/01/2006 10:16

I have the CD and play it everytime I am in the car to try and reinforce the message - it's all too easy to 'forget' the rules. Am now consiously eating only when I'm hungry - just have to add the exercise though.

Twiglett · 10/01/2006 11:19

well started it this morning .. seems eminently sensible

I for one am totally unaware of eating and eat too quickly without paying any attention

not sure I recognise hunger signs either

hopefully this will be the key thing that will help .. sick of bounce-back diets

I want one that tells me I do not "need" wine in the evening.........then I would be elected

marthamoo · 10/01/2006 11:23

I borrowed it from the library last year but I had to give it back. I subsequently ate myself fat.

Moo

I think you have to really concentrate on it for a few weeks until it becomes second nature. I'm always starting it and then stopping it again. But if I manage to keep it up for a week or more, I really start to see results. But then life gets in the way again... I think the key is to make time to listen to the cd and/or keep re-reading the book if you feel a lapse coming on. TraceyK - isn't it dangerous to listen to the cd while you're driving?! I always find myself dropping off to it.

Twiglett · 10/01/2006 12:03

how does one 'concentrate' when dealing with kids at mealtimes?

are you supposed to eat at another time?

there's a cd? .. will mosey on down to library methinks

franke · 10/01/2006 12:13

Well quite, Twiglett and I think that's where I keep slipping up - it's difficult to eat only when you're hungry if it's not at dinner time when the rest of the family are tucking in. Quite anti-social in fact.

tracyk · 10/01/2006 12:20

I only listen to the first part of it in the car - will have to get a 2nd copy burned at work so I can have it my alarm clock CD and play it when I wake in the mornings.
I know its easy to slip when feeding kids etc - but there's always going to be an excuse not to lose weight isn't there - you need to make it a priority for a month or so - just till it becomes 2nd nature.
or try and eat at a diff time, or only a tiny protion when eating with kids so you don't have to try and remember to stop. I heard chewing chewing gum when giving kids their tea stops you picking.
