yes of course it is! What stage in the month are you? Maybe just before a period and consequently feeling heavier generally?

Blossomhill · 08/01/2006 14:49

I think I am due in a week Jampots. Although my clothes do actually feel looser? Very odd!

Have you been doing more exercise? Could be firming you up - doesn't muscle weigh more than fat? I don't think I've lost anything either despite being super good but don't give up, It took me a year to put this stone on so to expect a result in a week would be a bit ambitious for me

MrsSpoon · 08/01/2006 15:29

Definately worth continuing, especially if your clothes are looser. You might find you start to see the difference on the scales next week.

Blossomhill · 17/01/2006 19:03

So weird as still on diet, not drinking alcohol and clothes are getting much looser. Scales saying just under 11 stone???

bubblerock is right... muscle weighs more than fat, so if you have toned up then it's possible to weigh more although you are actually smaller! it'll even out eventually though

Beetrootfultoyourself · 17/01/2006 19:06

Blossomhill · 17/01/2006 19:16

starlover - i haven't toned up as not exercising yet, so can't be that.
Beetroot - well done! Can I have your scales instead?

Puff, typical day is:-

Breakfast - bowl of muesli with semi-skimmed milk

Lunch - bowl of covent garden soup (half a carton) and a buttered roll

Dinner - Homemade Fishermans pie with green veg in garlic butter (tonights dinner)

Snacks:-

fruit
yoghurt (muller corner low cal ones)
occassionally have a low cal cereal bar
1 hot chocolate at bed time (low cal) to replace alcohol so I can relax/sleep
3 - 4 cups of tea

Blossomhill, must say at the outset am a health writer and not a dietician so feel free to ignore everything I say.
I don't know if you are intending to count cals/fat/GI points but think there might be quite a lot of fat in the diet you've described. Muesli, even the home-made sort is often quite a lot of cals and fat for the money. The commercial sort is often high in sugar, too. Some of the Covent Garden soups are high in fat, and butter is best avoided in any form. Maybe better to replace muesli with Weetabix, lose the roll at lunchtime and have a jacket potato (no butter) instead, and make sure the fish pie isn't too fatty--maybe have plain grilled fish instead?

Blossomhill · 17/01/2006 20:44

Thanks Christie I really couldn't face/afford to buy another new set of clothes so am just happy that I am fitting far easier into my clothes than I was!

Arabica - thank you that was very interesting. I really didn't know that about muesli. Although have to say I am also eating the muesli for fibre too. I think I may try the weetabix as I really like it as well.
I love Jacket potatoes so that's another easy and cheap swap.
The only thing I would find hard is losing the butter. I can't stand those low fat spreads but admit to using the butter very thinly, is that okay?

Muesli - yes, you do need to be careful on portion size if you eat it, plus a lot of shop bought ones can contain a lot of sugar.

Fish pie meal may be too calorie laden from the sauce in the pie.

I know what you mean about spreads - not the same as butter, but try to avoid cooking veg in butter.

Piffle · 18/01/2006 17:45

the best CG soups for weight loss are carrot and coriander
Also ditch the butter.
I have a toasted pita with my soup.
check your muesli for sugar.
If you must have the hot choc use skimmed milk. better off just have the milk.
I adore butter and refuse to use spreads, its something you just have to ditch to lose weight.
Eat foods that do not need it.
I'm coming at it from a good place
I do GI and a baked spud is evil on the GI scale plus I loathe eating them without lashings of dairy.
But I've kicked the booze too since xmas day and lost 3 kgs since then, now I've stopped losing and have started exercising to a dvd.
Time will tell...

PeachyClair · 18/01/2006 18:04

Our WW leader always used to tell the story of a Lady who came in wearing progressively smaller and smaller clothes, showing no weight loss at all. Then every few weeks she's skip a huge bit in one go, as if her metabolism was a bit unruly. She got there though!

Blossomhill · 18/01/2006 18:09

Piffle - I have a dvd but haven't got round to it yet. It is exercise that I really need as must tone up. Thanks for the food tips too

Peachy - I think that's me! I may measure myself and see if I am losing inches rather than pounds
