Hi I wonder if anyone can give me some suggestions! I have now got a 7 month old baby so am seriously thinking about going on a diet. I have always been a slim frame in my early 20's. I never went above size 10. I am now 30 and a size 14. I am very low and depressed about the way I look. I am trying the Atkins diet on Monday for a couple of months. but has anyone got any suggestions to get rid of this excess weight? I work full time 8:30 to 5 and never have time for excercise at the weekend!

Hi SamCattie

I'm similar to you - was always slim until I hit my mid 30s and went up to a size 14

You might want to look at the GI diet - it's generally considered to be healthier and perhaps easier to stick to than Atkins (unless you're really into meat!)

Why not join one of the weightloss "clubs" on here for support?

IMO - not too keen on the Atkins diets .... as the initial quick loss is just water.

At the end of the day it's watching the calories - can you throw in some exercise ???

BUT know that you are at the right place here - as the people are full of encouragement and enthusiasm.

I think it's a change of lifestyle - rather than a "crash" diet that works in the long-run.

Don't let it get you down yet - remember the old 9 months on, 9 months off saying.

Can you exercise during your lunch break? Go for a walk?
Can you walk/cycle to work?

I find incorporating exercise into my routine rather than trying to find time to exercise in the evenings etc the most effective and easier to maintain.

I would recommend the GI diet rather than Atkins - while atkins does give fast results the GI diet is easier to stick to and so gives better healthier results and is easier to incorporate into your diet.

Are you breastfeeding? Your body may be hanging onto some extra weight while that continues.

What height are you?

Thanks for the positive encouragement. What is the G diet?
