Enough is enough - I'm feed up of being stared at, talked about and laughed at.

I'm joing a gym and I'm going to make a real effort. I know everyones doing the same thing at this time of year, but does anyone else need to change in the way she has? ie 20st( or more) down to something more normal.

I've had the year from hell and I want things to be better and this is the only thing left to change - I've got a brilliant baby boy, I've got rid of a crap ex, I've ditched the job and I'm back with family to support me - It just can't be any harder than this last year has been!!!

I need to join this thread please. I need to lose 5 stone this year and am a week into a healthy diet and exercise regime. dh is trying to lose some as well (less than me though!). At our first weigh in yesterday I've lost 7lbs and am sooooo proud of myself. I've never had the will power before but ds starts school in Sept and I don't want to be a fat mummy at the school gates. Second the thing about shopping somewhere other than Evans. I'd love never to have to go there again!

puff · 15/01/2006 19:58

Well done Northender

I'm going to restart the Long Term Slimmers thread - it went quiet, but a few people might find it helpful.

jstbcs · 15/01/2006 20:19

I want to join... started Atkins on 1st Jan, fell off wagon! but am going back on it 100% on Tuesday, also starting Davina DVD. have plans to lose half a stone a month for a year... am behind schedule for January, but figure i can make it up if i stick to it 100%

swedishmum · 18/01/2006 19:19

Is it still going well northender? My Paul McKenna is stillworking. Even pleased that my favourite jacket is too big!

woosmummy · 18/01/2006 21:09

Been to the gym 4 times since I last was here. I have also been swimming with the woo and did ten lengths pushing him in his swimseat!! - not that effective but cheaper than the creche!!

I still feel really positive about it, and I have loved reading everyones contributions to this thread.

Already I can "feel" a difference - my posture is improving, my back feels much stronger, my mood has lifted and I actually have some energy to do stuff other than sit and watch my littlewoo play.

For my next challenge I'm going to get myself weighed so I know where i'm starting - but I think an improvement in fitness will come before a significant weight loss as Aloha says.

Well done woosmummy! I haven't heard of swimseats. What age are they for. I always hate swimming with the children except on holiday because I never actually get to swim much!
I know what you mean about the energy - I feel as though I'm moving faster.

poptot · 18/01/2006 21:39

3lbs tonight feeling loads better already.

JoolsToo · 18/01/2006 21:40

someone here entering Pop Idol?

woosmummy · 18/01/2006 21:51

Its like a rubber ring but it's got a seat bit in the middle - I've got one that fits babies up to 11kg if its any use to you?? just bought the next size up, they sell them at the pool. I don't think it's any good for teaching them to swim but it means I can swim when i've got no childcare rather than wallow in the shallow end like a beached whale

I have one of those swimseats too for ds2 (2.5). He's ok without and just armbands, but as woosmummy says, when I want to have a bit of a swim myself, ds2 is happy sat in it splashing, whilst I swim round him in a big circle in the childrens pool.

I bought mine in a big sports shop, I think it was £15 and it's ok up to 36 months.

angelcake99 · 18/01/2006 22:06

I'd like to join your thread please? I've got about 6 stome to loose, and i would like this year to be the one that i loose it in, hopefully in time for my 30th birthday! Although my motivation isn't great (just ate half a coffee cake) but i really want to turn over a new leaf. I'm starting weight watchers tomorrow and have been listening to Paul Mckenna cd too.

melbob · 18/01/2006 22:22

Can I join too? I am doing the GI diet (Hello Puff and have had some success. Have got about 5 stone to loose.

I'll join too, 3 stones to lose trying to follow Weightwatchers but not going to classes, this is my second week, I lost 5lb last week

swedishmum · 18/01/2006 23:28

Thanks woosmummy but probably need the next size up too as dd is about 10kg now (2 last Sat) - will get one and hopefully have more of a physical swim than normal.
Been tapping my head Paul McKenna style to get rid of my last vice - red wine. Not quite there yet.
Hello newcomers. I really think sharing ups and downs works - not tried it till this time though.

angelcake99 · 19/01/2006 08:51

Hi seb1 im going to be doing weight watchers at home too. I've been to the classes before and have all of the books, just hoping i can inspire myself to keep going. Anyway ive done the first step to getting myself there i weighed myself infront of hubby, which was hard!!(sure he had an idea how much i weigh anyway though) and today is my starting point. Good luck everyone!

swedishmum · 22/01/2006 21:48

So how's everyone doing? I ate too much this weekend, but less than I would have previously. However, I did do two back to back episodes of BoogieBeebies, and looked out my exercise vids!

melbob · 23/01/2006 19:32

Hi I am doing GI and stayed the same this week which was a real pain.

northender · 25/01/2006 20:19

Lost another 4 pounds last week which has spurred me on but we have just got back from 5 days at the in laws which was really tough am hoping I've at least stayed the same. Bought a new pair of jeans a size smaller this week!

woosmummy · 25/01/2006 20:41

I've just bought some combats from evans - a size smaller than usual AND THEY FEEL A BIT BAGGY ROUND THE HIPS!!!!! I don't think they will last too long if i keep on with the every other day gym sessions.

I had my two week personal trainer review session last night and had my programme adjusted. I can do hills, row for longer and i'm not too far off jogging!!

northender · 26/01/2006 19:25

Well done woosmummy it's a great feeling isn't it? It really spurred me on.

woosmummy · 27/01/2006 11:14

I had a stupid idea that trying a body jam (hip hop type dance class) would be fun ... it wasn't... it hurt

OP posts:
northender · 31/01/2006 22:44

Come on then where is everyone? I've managed to lose another 4 pounds which I'm really chuffed with but am having a tough week trying to keep on the straight and narrow. Gave in to a couple of drinks tonight but haven't strayed with my eating. I know it's going to get harder as the weight loss slows down though. How are you doing woosmummy?

puff · 31/01/2006 22:45

Well done northender

chipmonkey · 31/01/2006 23:00

Northender, just seen this. Keep going girl, I'm proud of you!
