Can anyone help me find low fibre diety food?

I have crohn's disease and if I eat high fibre stuff or too much fruit/veg/salad I get terrible stomach pains. Have been on a diet this week and yesterday pm, last night and this am have had this. I really need to lose some weight.

I know I have eaten too many (for me)for eg Ryvita (high fibre), grapes, tomatoes etc. I could juice for my vits etc as have a juicer but as I work is not always easy.

I really don't want to eat bread or potatoes either.

Any suggestions?

Cottage cheese?? Sounds dreadful & diety but you can add all sorts to it (savoury or sweet - cottage cheese with Splenda & cinnamon is a scrummy pudding)

I'll have a think CD and see if I can come up with some suggestions later.

Just a thought - as you have crohn's - would your gp be able to refer you to a dietician - might be helpful in planning an eating programme specific to you.

What about making some soup in the slow cooker. Go heavy on the broth add a few veg and maybe lentils instead of potato/rice/past.

Does this mean white refined bread bread is better for you than wholemeal high fiber variety.

Wow, I feel for you. This must be difficult cause everything preaches high fibre these days.

Agree that a trip to a dietician might be a good thing.

Oh, and fish is of course good too.

What about some nice lowfat mushroom soup. Could add a bit of onion for flavour. If you don't want to make it yourself, I think campbells does a latfat one (in a tin). Probably tastier if you make your own.

mushrooms and lentils both do for me sadly as I adore them. I have to eat them in extreme moderation.

I do love cottage cheese. The problem is when I have a "normal" diet (ie lots of fruit and veg and fibre) I get ill. It really makes dieting hard. The only diet that really suits me is Atkins but I can't bear it!

What about a low fat version oof atkins. Say tofu instead of red meat? Fish in a lowfat sauce?

You can make low fat creamy sauces by using fat free cream cheese in place of full fat cream.

What about corn products? Lije cor tortillas? Or are those still high in fibre?

Have you heard of The Specific Carbohydrate Diet? If not, do a search - there seems to be lots of info on the web and people with crohn's have followed it to relieve symptoms, but it is also suggested as an alternative to Atkins for weight loss.
