Crikey theres soooo many and they all work - if you can stick to them, thats the key. For me the easiest was Slimming World. Loads of variety, loads of free foods.

You need to work out what part of the food you enjoy, is it quantity? If so then Slimming World is for you, loads of 'free' foods that you can literally eat up to your eyeballs.

Is it being allowed loads of things in moderation? Then there's Weight Watchers where everything has a point and you can eat so many points per day.

Theres GI, where you watch the Glycemic index in your foods, theres a thread Here

Theres Atkins where you can eat all the fat, meat and veg you can eat but can't have carbs.

theres loads more ideas Here Unfortunately you have to make the choice of which one you think will suit you best - good luck!

Weightwatchers is the best IMHO.

You can eat normal food and choc and wine and still lose weight.

SW for me was not about being in control. You could eat a chicken and half a pig on a red day and that was fine. On a green day you could packets of rice or bags of potatoes and didnt really teach you about healthy eating.

I lost loads on WW.

is sw 4grm fat per 100grm?

Rosemary Conley's Hip & Thigh - and it works!

Furball · 19/11/2005 20:51

jstbcs - no SW is Red (meat) and green (Potatoes, pasta, rice etc) You can eat as much fruit and veg as you literally can eat. Then you choose in the morning whether you fancy a red or green day and eat accordingly. Meat days you are allowed a small quantity of carbs and visa versa. A great diet if you've got a big appetite.

notasheep · 19/11/2005 20:54

everything in moderation!

Chandra · 19/11/2005 20:58

To be honest... none. Before I was happy if I lost a kg in a week, now I'm happy just to know I have not got an extra one...

jstbcs · 19/11/2005 20:59

lol@chandra... yea been there...

notasheep · 19/11/2005 21:35

I was going to say that-we all know that weight can drop off us after the spectical of David Blaine!

Chandra · 19/11/2005 21:37

I'm still there...

I've lost nearly 7 stone on the GI Diet - has worked for me.

Furball · 19/11/2005 21:37

Which is sooo much easier than it is done. And unfortunatly it's not just for one day, one week or one month in most cases. To keep that momentum up for so long is hard, one slip up and you either put it on or stay the same, it's very disheartning.

Furball · 19/11/2005 21:38

sorry that post was to nightynight.

Nightynight · 19/11/2005 22:01

well, Im on a weight losing phase at the mo. I recently moved to a new city and new job, and ate a lot of high calorie food to cope with all teh stress.
so, starting this week, I swopped cheese for salad in my sandwiches, cut out carbohydrates in teh evening, and only have fruit for snacks. I still eat about 300 g of plain choc a day.
Extra willpower is required in the supermarket to run past the choccy/cake/cheese aisles, and Im confident of fitting into my jeans in a week or so.

To maintain my weight at the same level, Ill just relax those rules a bit.

Apixelmascarol · 09/12/2005 13:36

I can lose weight easily enough when I want to just by eating healthily and taking more exercise. It's the long-term part I've had trouble with in the past, keeping motivated. I joined my nearest slimming club (which happened to be Slimming World) at the end of June and have lost weight steadily since (only put on 1lb once and that was my birthday week!).

For me, it's not so much the type of diet as the fact of knowing I will be weighed every week and the results recorded that keeps me on the straight and narrow.
