No Sugar Diet

Anyone else on a no/very low sugar diet? I've been doing this for a couple of weeks now and expected low energy levels (and low mood) due to sugar withdrawal but almost 3 weeks in I'm still feeling this way Confused I've lost about 6 lbs (scales a bit dodgy) and am on about 1400 cals a day with plenty of veg so can't see that I'm losing too quickly or cutting back too drastically. I'm not eating wheat but I am eating oats/rye bread and rice so am getting my carbs too. Infact, I am eating very very healthily.

I have about another stone to lose before I am medically deemed "normal" but know from past experience that I will feel more comfortable being another stone below that so have some way to go.

Someone please tell me that this level of tiredness (like that of early pregnancy, and no, unfortunately I'm not) doesn't last forever? Anyone else had similar experience?

I gave up sugar for lent this year, the initial low energy was incredible, but I did pick up after a week or so so I'm not sure what to suggest. I don't eat wheat/gluten anyway, but didn't go overboard on carbs to fill me, just ate more fruit and vegetables for the natural sugars. Maybe we all take a different amount of time to get used to it?
I was impressed that i didn't once have a sugar-low/hypo which I suffer from normally though, and that I lost over half a stone in 4 weeks!

We don't need refined sugar or white carbs at all. If you are eating oats, rye bread and rice then you are having slow release carbs, so slightly worrying that 3 weeks later still having low energy levels.

I think probably worth going to discuss with doctor to check not other reasons for tiredness (anaemia, thyroid, diabetes etc) because that level of tiredness from sugar withdrawal should not last more than a few days.

I have done low sugar diet for months now, some week no fruit / oats / rice anything carby and had enough energy to train for triathlon so I'm probably not best person to ask.

thanks for getting back to me Em3978 and forever

I did think 3 weeks was a bit long to be honest and the mention of anaemia had got me thinking, I've only eaten red meat once I think over the past 3 weeks and I've currently on my period so maybe that could be a factor. Surely if I had diabetes the lack of sugar would be a good thing no?

Triathlon??!! goodness me, I've just about enough energy to do every day things, I haven't been to the gym in over a month so maybe that's not helping either.
