Body image - Mums passing body anxieties on to daughters

I'm working on a project about body image and how anxieties about how we look are passed form mothers to daughters. I'd like to hear from mums who have a daughter who is beginning to display signs of body image awareness at a young age.

I'm really interested in the following:
Do you have a body hang-up?
Are you concerned about passing your body worries on to your daughter?
Has your daughter come home from school saying she is fat or unhappy with the way she looks? If so what steps have you taken to make sure negative messages aren?t being reinforced at home.

i can honestly say i dont have body hang ups.

im not perfect but im healthy and i eat well and exercise 3 times a week.

my DD is 7.5 and very aware of how she looks, she will study her hair in the mirror after i have put it up. she wont wear anything tight as she thinks her tummy sticks out. (it doesnt)

she is a healthy weight and she thinks her thighs muscles/legs are big,
i explain to her that this is normal and most peoples thighs are bigger than their lower legs.
if they were thinner is could be because the person isnt eating properly to be a healthy person.
it does worry me.
