Ok - I have to do some sort of low carb thing. The older I get the worse the effect they have on me so low carb is the way to go. Have had a look at the Dukan diet and I do like the thought of a carb free day once a week but honestly it scared me when i read it and I think maybe I do not have the self control required for that level of carb avoidance. So have arrived at pigs to twigs which looks on the surface all together friendlier.... So have you done it does it work and can I chane the way I eat. Please tell me your experience ladies

TIA

Is this the India Knight IPD diet?
It works. I've lost just under a stone in 8 wks. Painlessly. It eliminates the spikes and troughs you get from relying on carbs. Being liberated from that awful nagging hunger is well worth no bread/potatoes, you just eat delicious protein and veg and 'good fats' instead and feel satisfied for longer.
I've never dieted before. I'm on horrid medication which has made me stack on 3 stone in the last 3 yrs, and I'm still on a high dose, so this is extra-miraculous (a consultant tipped me off about low-GI which he said would be helpful, IPD looked similar but simpler and more fun). DH has been dragged along with me, and keeps having to make new notches in his belt. He says he feels terrific.
I just had Parma ham and an avocado for breakfast. No hardship!

have never dieted either and at 41 it seems strangely daunting even though i have been a chubber for all my life I have had no problem with it. Just now age and all that is catching up etc etc. Truthfully more of a health thing than a being thinner thing but the IPD looked really doable. And absolutely well done Carmelita on a good job so far.

Hmmmm lovely brekkie too - I just had porridge with treacle.... I wonder why I am fat?????????????????????????????????????

I did the pig to twig and lost 6lbs in the first week and 15 in total. Reading the book was more of a help than just following the recipes. I am about to start it again as I have had a break due to various reasons.

I tried P2T but got completely constipated. Had to stop after 2 weeks... did not have the same problem on dukan as the oatbran kept me regular.

pinkytheshrinky · 09/04/2011 21:38

Just the dukan seems so much stricter - maybe my perception of it?

In some ways dukan stricter, but I love fat free dairy and also diet coke/sprite (allowed on dukan but not P2T) and don't really like appreciate or have any inclination to eat high fat foods, so dukan better for me, although I confess that after the attack 5 days rarely do any protein days, do protein and vegetable (although often do protein breakfast and lunch but have veggies with dinner) - keep on saying will do some only protein days if weight loss stops but it hasn't and now anyway am at target so vegetables allowed every day once target is reached.

I am on P2T/ IPD and it is working for me. Have lost a stone and a half, actually a little more now since this weeks weigh in. Started 1st Feb and am still doing well.

Dont find it a hassle at all and although I am not a huge cream lover I have sort of adapted it to suit me. Still works and as long as you drink lots of water you shouldnt be constipated.

I am going back to the recipes starting Monday as I have lapsed a bit over the weekend and feel bloated.

FAB5 · 10/04/2011 09:51

If you were constipated were you taking all the vitamins you were told you needed to take?

foreverondiet · 10/04/2011 10:25

Yes, I was drinking the recommended amount of water and taking the psyllium husk (twice a day), multivits and essential fatty acids. Had to take 2 or 3x movicol each day to resolve but thats not something I was prepared to do longer term. But maybe it was just me.
