Can anyone please help me? I currently do Slimming World breakfasts, lunches, dinners, no problem. Then the evening comes and I go mad snacking..........crisps, chocolate, nuts, whatever I can shove in my mouth basically Sad. I need some ideas on quick, syn-free snacks, and also, how the hell do I get out of this mindless eating cycle I've got myself into? Thank you!

I used to eat boiled eggs, crab sticks, sliced lean ham, cooked chicken and mugshots. I had to abandon SW and start paul McKenna to get out of the mindless eating cycle though!

Thank you for replying, I bought the Paul Mckenna book and cd,
I've only read the book once, but listened to the cd for a couple of weeks......havent for a while though. Saying that, its not going to work if I dont stick at it and absorb it properly, is it !! I've got to get some sort of control back, I'm going to look like a bloody barrel the way I'm going! Did you abandon SW completely? I just cant imagine Paul McKenna working for me, I dont think I know when I feel full. Tbh I feel a bit scared about not being able to listen to my body. I seem to ignore it most evenings when I feel uncomfortably full, but carry on troughing!

If you slow your eating right down, as McKenna, suggests, I think you'll slowly get back in tune with fullness and hunger. Wolfing down food makes us lose touch with whether we've had enough or not. I think it takes 20 minutes for the brain to catch up with the stomach that it's full so McKenna says slow it right down, put your knife and fork down frequently. I "step away" from the food and serve myself eg 6 crisps then stop and feel whether it's enough or not. I leave the rest of the crisps in the kitchen. I eat them slowly. I never eat snacks out of the whole bag but portion them out on a plate. It's worked for me.

You're right, I really do need to learn to slow down and eat more consciously, and that's a great idea, to serve everything on a plate. I also need to concentrate soley on what I'm eating, and stop shovelling it in in front of tv/pc/book etc......many thanks for your help.

Try and find something to do that you need to keep your hands clean for, and that interests you - a hobby like card making or cross stitch, knitting etc. I am doing SW, and used to trough non stop in the evenings, but am doing ok now. If cravings get too bad, I grab my hubby and take him upstairs for a good Grin Good exercise too!

I find knitting (and the other, stinky Grin) very helpful.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 01/04/2011 15:20

Yeah, I totally abandoned SW for Paul. Ive lost more weight in a month doing this than I lost in a year on SW!!

Ha ha Stinky, reckon my husband would love your suggestion, but then thats probably another thread! Did make me laugh though, thank you! I used to do a lot of sewing, I should really take it up again.....stop snacking, AND some new dresses, gotta be win-win hasnt it?! And I'm going to make a concerted effort this weekend to read and re-read the Paul Mckenna book, and listen to the cd on my i-pod everyday as well. Thank you all very much! Feel much more positive already Smile
