I'm not very good at sticking to diets but have a stone to loose. Is there a cheaper way of doing it through books or something as I don't fancy paying £60 for something I may give up quickly?

Thanks

PS: just seen the sample menu on-line. There's no way I would loose weight eating that much, unless I was running a marathon a day. Has anyone not loose weight following the plan?

I always lose plenty on Slimming World.

I joined online last week. I've never done that before; always either gone to a class or just done it myself.

I feel really hoodwinked out of the £60. The online diary is rubbish - not a patch on Weight Watchers. There's other bits (recipes etc) but they're the kind of thing you'd be able to get via the magazine.

If you can get to a class, probably best to join that way (and if you don't need that regular thing, just simply go the once and then do it yourself).

You will lose weight eating that much! I have lost a stone in 4 weeks following SW.

MrsSalvatore · 02/04/2011 22:41

heres an example (ive lost 1 st 2lb since xmas on sw)

week before last i lost 3lb and i followed the plan but ate like a horse

last week i had a sick bug and couldnt eat for 3 days, went back onto plan day before weigh in and only lost 1/2 a pound

It works, starvation is not the key to losing weight, eating the right things is!!!

MrsSalvatore - do you think so? So I could be eating too little? Fantastic news Grin.

I lost 3 stone with SW. As MrsSalvatore said it's not how much you eat, it's what you eat. It's a low fat, low sugar diet.

My friend failed to lose weight but she was also struggling with thyroid problems.
She's the only person I know who hasn't lost weight. Of those in the group people who didn't lose weight some weeks could put it down to not sticking to the plan, skipping meals, or not eating enough, (your body goes into starvation mode and stores food) or they were eating things that they thought were good, but weren't (like smoothies, fruit is free, but you burn calories by chewing and digesting it. A smoothie it takes no effort to digest so becomes syns.)
Or in my case I went back to lose the post Christmas excess, did great for 2 weeks then maintained or gained for 3 weeks. Got really annoyed... then realise I was pregnant. :)

I recommend going to a class, you can sign up for 6 weeks but you only pay for 5. 6 Weeks is enough to work out if you're going to stick at it. Also the first week you get all the information but it might not make sense so you can go back and ask questions and you'll learn from others.

I couldn't afford to pay either, but that's what made me lose the weight. I objected to paying every week so stuck to the diet. The faster I lost the weight, the sooner I could start going for free. :)

Thanks Bilblio. Is it generally wheat free too? I have always thought it is sugar and wheat that is the problem with me (but hate low carbing).

I didn't realise that about smoothies - oops! I eat lots of them.

Red days are very low carb days, green days you can have as much pasta, rice, potatoes as you like, but very little meat. You've very limited on what and how much bread you have, as well as dairy (I lived on laughing cow light triangles, you can have 5 as one healthy extra portion so I used them instead of cheese or butter) I'm guessing it would be very easy to do it wheat free.

The new diet they push is Extra Easy where you can have as much meat and carbs as you like, but 2/3rds of your plate must be free food from either red or green days... I think. I've veggie so I only ever did Green days. I never got my head around the Extra Easy diet because I never needed to. :)
